Careers and Pathways HUB
News from the Career and Pathways HUB
I will soon start meeting with all Year 10 students and hopefully their parents/guardians to commence the VCE subject selection process. All meeting requests have been sent out this week, so please look out for the invitation in your inbox. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to begin discussions about the students’ interests and aptitudes based on their Morrisby Profile, and investigate any career and pathway ideas that students have at this early stage. There are lots of resources available to families to assist with this process on the HT Connect Careers and Pathways Page here. Resources specific to Year 10s can be found here.
Next week, I am very much looking forward to spending some time with the Year 9 and Year 11 students during their respective activities weeks. The Year 9 students will be developing their resumes so that they are in a position to start applying for casual jobs later in the year, while the Year 11 students will be spending a day visiting Deakin and Monash Universities. The University Life day on Thursday will be packed with tours, information and Q&A sessions and will provide students with a better idea of what university life is like, enabling them to start to see what they need and want out of a tertiary institution.
Following activities week, if any student is feeling at all overwhelmed as a result of any of the tasks they have been working through, they are most welcome to book in for a chat with me.
Upcoming events
The best way for students to research and plan for their futures is to experience things for themselves. Please read through the following opportunities carefully and register for anything that is of interest. Most of these activities are free to participate in.
