HARMONY DAY

Celebrating cultural diversity at St James

St James staff and students will celebrate the importance of embracing cultural diversity when we participate in Harmony Day on Friday 22nd March.

We invite all student to wear clothing from their culture or wear orange clothing.

Why orange?

Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and the encouragement of mutual respect.

What else can we do to participate?

We would love to hear your family's story. You are invited to complete the page linked here to display on the office window. Sharing our stories is a wonderful way to learn about each other and our cultures. Please return to your child's classroom teacher when complete.

What will happen in classrooms?

Students will engage in some Harmony Day activities in the class/level.

We encourage you to share some things about your culture with your child prior, eg: how to say 'hello' in your language, cultural foods, celebrations, and traditions.

In late 2021, ParentZone launched a series of parenting podcasts called ParentZone Pods on sibling rivalry, dealing with anxiety, family meetings, getting your children to listen, how to stop yelling at your kids, and how to respond to kids’ behaviour. Due to the success of these podcasts, Anglicare has decided to create another series in 2022. So, watch this space for more helpful topics to aid in your parenting!
