From the Principal

Shane Davoren

Dear Parents and Friends,

We have come to the end of Term One and it is always pleasing to acknowledge the progress that students have made in such a short period of time. It seems like only yesterday that our Prep class commenced school. They quickly adjusted to routines and demonstrated their ability to listen to the teachers and follow instructions.

Today students took part in an Easter Liturgy that included the re-enactment of Holy Week. Holy Week is a time during Lent to reflect on Jesus' suffering and love for humanity.  It is generally considered the most sacred week of the Christian calendar. Students are to be commended for the beautiful way they shared different events and for the respect given to those presenting. It was great to see so many parents and friends attend and support the students.

First Term is always a busy one and we hope students (and parents), can have a rest during the holidays.

Casual Clothes - fundraiser

Tomorrow students may wear casual clothes to school. If they do they are encouraged to bring a donation (gold coin or other) that will be donated to the 'Hands Across the Water' charity. This charity assists children in a number of orphanages in Thailand. The Archibald family (Charlotte Yr 5, Alexander Yr 3 and Lincoln Year 1, will be assisting in one of the orphanges during the school holidays. Their dad, Robin, will be completing a 500km fundraiser ride through Thailand at the same time. Please go to https://www.handsacrossthewater.org.au/fundraisers/elainearchibald if you would like to donate to this charity. Charlotte and Alanna (Social Justice Leader) spoke to each class today about purpose of the fundraiser.

Easter Raffle

Tomorrow we will conduct our annual Easter raffle. There will be 32 prizes in total and all students will be given five raffle tickets. Students choose how to distrubute their raffle tickets. Some will spread their tickets across five raffles while some may choose to put all five tickets into one raffle. Thanks to everyone for donating the chocolates and to the Parents' Association for organising and wrapping the prizes. This will take place in the hall at 12:15pm. All welcome. Prior to the raffle students will take place in an Easter Egg  Hunt at 11:45pm on the oval and adventure playground.

Think You Know - Cyber Safety

On Tuesday the 26th of March, the Year 4s and 6s had a cyber safety lesson from Heath and Pat (police officer’s from Forest Hill Police Station). Heath talked about online platforms and how to stay safe online.

We learnt that even in a single photo, it can give lots of information about yourself such as your age and where you are.

We were lucky to have Heath and Pat visit our school to teach us how to be careful online.
