An outstanding achievement Noel Congrats!!!
Welcome to the Y NSW Youth Parliament for 2024!
Dear Noel.
We are happy to inform you that your application to the Y NSW Youth Parliament Program has been SUCCESSFUL.
Congratulations on becoming a Youth Parliamentarian for 2024!
Our team is excited about this years' program and we cannot wait to see you shine in NSW Parliament.
We are pleased to inform that you will be representing the Northern Tablelands electorate and we have placed you in the Rural and Regional Development Committee. Within this committee, you will be supported and guided by our dedicated Taskforce committee advisor who you will meet soon.
Sophia-Rose Markham Year 12.
A big congratulation to our year 12 student Sophia-Rose Markham she was the overall winner of the Regional Lions Club speeches competition, which will now see her progress to the district speeches competition, and that Sophia-Rose was also selected into the Youth Parliament Program.
Massive congrats!
Sophia Markham was also successful at the Lions Region 4 Final of the Youth of the Year. Sophia won both of the titles being contested on the day - Public Speaking and Overall Youth of the Year.
Sophia is a credit to her school, her family and members of the Armidale Dumaresq Lions Club who she was representing as our Club's YOTY winner (achieved back on 1st November 2023.) She competed against students from Guyra, Glen Innes and Inverell and presented in a most confident and articulate way - with her stunning smile.
The next step for Sophia is the District Final being held on Saturday 6th April at the Armidale City Bowling Club. She will participate in an interview with the panel of 5 judges during the day - the interviews are quite wide ranging from personal interests and experiences to commenting on current issues. At 6:00pm a dinner will be held at the Bowling Club where Sophia will participate in the District Public Speaking final - 2 two minute impromptu questions and a 5 minute prepared speech.
Sophie Parsons.
Congratulations to Sophie Parsons who played for the NSW CHS First XI in Maitland in the NSW all schools carnival. The carnival was unfortunately impacted by storms the night before the start of the carnival which meant that they played on synthetic wickets and also damp turf wickets. Sophie was her teams highest scorer in a couple of games and they played off for third and fourth position.
Congratulations Sophie.
