What's happening in Year 4/5/6 space?

Hello!

Our 4/5/6 children have had a smooth transition into their new learning environment. We are getting to know one another, how we prefer to learn and our hopes and dreams for 2024!

To start the school year we used collaboration and conversation to identify what we want our learning space to look, feel and sound like this year.

Ways of Working

Together, we are establishing and becoming familiar with our expectations, which we named our Ways of Working. These include:

We are friendly. I am friendly.

We are respectful. I am respectful.

We are positive learners. I am a positive learner.

Discovery

The 4/5/6 children have been exploring what it means to be a learner and who they are as learners. Throughout our Discovery sessions, children explored the language of construction, artistry and writing and leaned into some of our our Learner Assets of being open-minded, resourceful and reflective learners.

Writer's Workshop

We have been exploring the concept of having a Writer's Notebook. This is a place for the 4/5/6 children to explore different styles of writing, ideas they have and words/sentences they love.

This week the children spent time crafting the front covers of their Notebooks, which reflected their passions, interests and some of their favourite things.

Recently children would have come home with a brown paper bag, explaining the collection of writing seeds. Next week we will begin diving into these bags and 'planting' some of these seeds into our Writer's Notebooks , so it would be amazing if these could be back at school ready for this experience.

The vibes are great in the 4/5/6 space and we are enjoying our days together.

We are still building up our school stamina, so I hope everyone has a restful and relaxed weekend.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
