Production

I'd like to give a big shout out to the production team who have been helping me get sets and props ready for our incredible production in Term Three. While there are some big sets to complete, the little things are just as important for setting the scene. Thank you for all your help so far, and I look forward to seeing it all come together in the coming weeks.

Foundation students have been busy experimenting with different printing techniques this term. They created a special Mother’s Day gift using fingerprint printing and explored pattern making on a painted turtle, using a variety of tools to print designs before carefully cutting out their work. Students also investigated how colours can represent emotions through a Colour Monster artwork, choosing an emotion and painting their monster in the colour they felt best matched that feeling. They finished Term Two making special paper to use as a background, drawing themselves as what they would like to be famous for.

Year One and Two students explored landscapes and imaginative worlds through a variety of projects. They painted an autumn tree reflection, carefully observing seasonal colours and recreating the landscape mirrored in water. Inspired by the artwork of Henri Rousseau, students created lush gardens filled with overlapping plants to create a sense of depth and space. To finish the term, students drew colourful castles using oil pastels, focusing on solid colouring techniques to create bright and vibrant artworks.

Year Three and Four students completed their seascape portfolio pieces, adding folded origami boats and making creative choices to communicate different weather conditions. They then explored the work of Josie Lewis, experimenting with watercolours, masking techniques and analogous colour schemes to create vibrant geometric artworks. Students are currently working on paper collages inspired by Margaret Preston, painting a variety of textured papers before carefully cutting and arranging flowers, leaves and vases into balanced compositions.

Year Five and Six students have been developing their drawing and design skills this term. They practised shading techniques by drawing a series of pipes and industrial forms, carefully using tone to create the illusion of three-dimensional objects. Students then explored the world of steampunk, recycling materials to create textured industrial panels before beginning a detailed drawing project. They are currently transforming an animal of their choice into a mechanical, steampunk-inspired creature, combining imagination with careful observation and design.
