Term Two has been another busy and active term in Physical Education and Health, with students across all year levels continuing to develop their skills, teamwork and understanding of healthy lifestyles.

Foundation:

The Foundation students focused on developing their Fundamental Movement Skills, including striking, catching and throwing. Through a variety of engaging activities, students were introduced to sports such as T-Ball, Cricket and AFL. The students developed an understanding of how to execute the core skills involved in each of the sports both as an individual and in small groups.

In Health, students explored the importance of healthy eating and completed activities centred around packing a healthy lunchbox.

Year One

The Year One students continued to develop and refine their Fundamental Movement Skills through activities involving striking, catching and throwing. Students participated in sports such as T-Ball, Cricket and AFL while also developing teamwork, cooperation and an understanding of game rules through activities such as Walk the Dog. It has been wonderful to see students demonstrating increasing confidence and sportsmanship throughout the term.

This term's health lesson saw the students focus on people who can provide us with help and support in the community e.g. doctors, dentists, nurses, police officers and fire fighters. The students had to cut and paste the pictures of the support workers and match them to a scenario which required help from one of the above people.

Year Two

The Year Two students worked on refining their Fundamental Movement Skills, including striking, catching, kicking and throwing. Students applied these skills in a range of sports and games, including T-Ball, Cricket, Continuous Cricket and Kickball. Throughout these activities, students further developed their teamwork and ability to follow rules and expectations.

As part of their Health studies, students collaborated in small groups to complete a friendship booklet, exploring the qualities of positive friendships and ways to support others.

Year Three/Four

Students in Years Three/Four focused on applying their Fundamental Movement Skills through a variety of sports and game-based activities. Units included Continuous Tennis and Indoor Soccer. These sports allowed students to develop movement, coordination and game awareness.

Students also participated in a three-week Touch Rugby program, where they learned key rugby skills such as passing, catching, movement and teamwork.

In health, students explored the concept of identity and developed an understanding of the many factors that contribute to who they are as individuals such as physical features, their personality and beliefs

Year Five/Six

The Year Five/Six students continued to build on their Fundamental Movement Skills through participation in modified continuous movement sport (e.g. continuous tennis and kickball) and Indoor Soccer.

Students also completed a three-week Touch Rugby program, focusing on passing, catching, movement patterns and teamwork.

During health, students investigated how health messages are portrayed through various forms of media and examined the influence these messages can have on people's perceptions and behaviours.

It has been fantastic to see students actively participating, challenging themselves and demonstrating excellent teamwork throughout the term.

Term Two Events

District Cross Country

Our students proudly represented the school at the District Cross Country held at Lewis Park. In total we had forty-two competitors racing on the day. The students demonstrated outstanding determination, resilience, and sportsmanship as they tackled a brand new course. It was fantastic to see students encouraging one another and striving to achieve their personal best. Congratulations to all participants on their efforts and to those who qualified for the next stage of competition.

Division Cross Country

Following their success at district level, seventeen students progressed to the Division Cross Country at Yarra Valley Racecourse. The event featured strong competition from schools across the region, and our students rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and perseverance. This was reflected in their efforts around a course which featured a tough hill and a wet/muddy surface. We are incredibly proud of the commitment they showed throughout their preparation and on race day.

Region Cross Country

Our school was proudly represented at the Region Cross Country Championships held at Yarra Valley Racecourse. Competing against some of the strongest runners in Victoria, our students displayed exceptional dedication, courage, and sportsmanship. Reaching the regional level is a significant achievement, and we congratulate all participants on their outstanding efforts and the way they represented our school community. Good luck to Flynn who will compete in the state championships in Term Three.

Year Five/Six Hooptime

Our Year Five and Six students enjoyed a fantastic day of basketball at the Hooptime competition held at the State Basketball Centre. Students showcased their  basketball skills, teamwork, and positive attitudes throughout the day. Whether competing on the court or supporting their teammates from the side lines, all students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and represented the school with pride. As a school we are super proud of how each student lived our school values throughout the competition. Congratulations to our Future Stars Girls team who won their respective grand final and have now progressed to region.

Year Five/Six District Winter Sports

The Year Five and Six District Winter Sports competition provided students with an exciting opportunity to compete against neighbouring schools across a range of sports such as Netball, T-Ball, Soccer and AFL. Students displayed excellent teamwork, determination, and resilience while representing our school. The day was filled with great performances, positive attitudes, and memorable experiences, highlighting the importance of participation and school spirit.

Congratulation to both our girls netball team and T-Ball team who won their respective events and will now progress through to the division stage. We wish you the best of luck.

Year Three/Four Hooptime

On Tuesday 2t3 June over fifty of our three/four students represented our school at the District Hooptime tournament at the State Basketball Centre. It was fantastic to witness the teamwork, mateship, determination and skill on display throughout each of our teams.

We would like to congratulate all students for their efforts ove the course of the day. A further congratulation goes to our Future Stars Boys and Girls team who won their respective grand finals. We wish you the best of luck at the regional championships later in the year (date TBC).
