Term Two in 3/4
Learning Overview
Mathematics
In Mathematics this term students have been learning the following concepts:
- Division, 2D and 3D Shapes, Times Tables, Transformation, Tessellations, Chance and Probability, Graphs and Data, Time.
English
In English this term students have been learning the following concepts:
- Novel study: Yirra and her Deadly Dog, Demon by Anita Heiss and Finding our Heart by Thomas Mayor. Students learnt new vocabulary words and sentence structure.
- Writing: students wrote a factual recount about the history of the Aboriginal flag.
Inquiry
In Inquiry this term students have been learning about the following:
- Australian geography
- Australian neighbouring countries including New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
- Natural and constructed features
- Flora and fauna of the different countries
Volcanoes and the Ring of Fire
Wellbeing
The last few weeks of term two, students created picture story books in which their character had a problem they had to overcome. Students showed their understanding of different emotions and strategies they can use to overcome problems. Students loved working on these books and some students had the opportunity to read their books to the Foundation classes.
Athletics Day
On Wednesday 13th May, students in Years 3-6 went to Knox Athletics track for the 2026 Athletics trials. Congratulations to all students who participated in these trials and made it through the next level.
3-6 Swimming
During Week One of Term Two, students in 3/4 engaged in the 3-6 swimming program. It was great to see the swimming and water safety skills shown during this week.
Mother's Day Afternoon
On Friday 8th May, USPS celebrated Mother's Day with our annual Mother's Day afternoon. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying the afternoon.
Crazy Hair and Sock Day
On Tuesday 18th May, USPS had one of our favourite days, crazy hair and crazy sock day. We saw so many creative hairstyles and unique, bright socks!
