Level 1 & 2

WELCOME BACK!

We hope all of our students and families have enjoyed a relaxing and happy break!

We are looking forward to another fun and exciting term of learning together!

GRADE TWO CAMP EXPERIENCE

Our Grade 2 students headed off to Mount Evelyn Discovery Camp early on Monday morning for a day camp experience including a special dinner. With beautiful weather forecast, we’re sure they will enjoy a fantastic day while developing their independence and building new skills with their peers.

REMINDERS

Reading pockets:

Please ensure you have your child's reading pockets and they are being brought to school every day. This helps establish consistent routines and supports the development of positive, lifelong homework and learning habits. Please note that books will only be changed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Hats:

Please make sure that your child has their sun smart school hat at school each day! Hats will be sent home on 'First of May, Hats Away!'

iPads:

Please ensure students are bringing their iPad to school every day. Please remember to stay safe before and after school while your iPads are in your bags.

Personal Belongings:

We are seeing an increase in personal belongings like footy cards, teddies, remote controlled cars and toys being bought to school. We strongly encourage students to leave these items at home as at times they can cause distress when they become lost or damaged and can distract students from learning time.

Grade Two Students

The Grade Two students are also exploring Place Value. Students will be looking at three and four digit numbers, making, reading, writing and representing these. Students will use tools such as number lines, to help understand the 'place' of these numbers.

What can you do at home?

  • Play a game with your child or family at home. Discuss the importance of the rules and why everyone gets the same number of turns.

CBL

Our Big Idea for  Term One was Community. After already having a wonderful visit from our local CFA members from Wonga Park, students finished off the term with a visit from our friends at Warrandyte Police Station who also spoke to us about being safe in our community. We thank them making time to visit our school and for leaving us with their lights and sirens on!

We completed our CBL challenge by highlighting an area of the school students love and how they can be safe in this area. Students then shared this letter with a buddy in another class.
