The Wiritjiribin Word
This term has been a busy and productive one in Aboriginal Education at Camden High School. Our Aboriginal Education Coordinator, Mrs White, has been finalising First Nations PLP with students, reflecting on their successes and challenges from 2025, while also setting new academic, personal and cultural goals for their 2026 Personalised Learning Pathways. This important process supports students in developing clear direction and focus for the year ahead.
Our Year 7 and 8 students recently participated in their first DEADLY Study Workshop, with special guest Lowana from the Western Sydney Pathways to Dreaming program bringing valuable First Nations perspectives to a session centred on Country and identity. In this literacy-focused workshop, students explored texts by First Nations authors and developed key skills such as using visual literacy clues to predict themes, inferring the meaning of Aboriginal language words and applying the PEEL paragraph structure to create well-developed written responses.
To finish the term, we are looking forward to some exciting opportunities for our students. Year 11 and 12 Pathways to Dreaming students will take part in an on-campus visit to support them in exploring post-school options as they approach important decisions about their future. Additionally, students in Years 7–10 will have the opportunity to invite a friend to join them in the ARTucation program, delivered by Youth Solutions in Week 10, sharing culture and learning in a meaningful and inclusive way.
We are proud of the continued engagement and growth of our students as they strengthen their connection to culture, identity and learning.
