STAGE 4
YEAR 7
In practical lessons, Year 7 students are currently focusing on athletics, developing fundamental movement skills and building confidence across a range of events in preparation for the Term 2 carnival. Later in the term, they will transition into team sports, where they will continue to develop their teamwork, communication, and game sense.
In the classroom, students will begin the unit “Best Version of Me,” which provides an opportunity to explore and reflect on the range of changes they may experience during this stage of their lives. This unit encourages self-awareness and supports students in developing strategies to navigate this important stage of growth.
YEAR 8
In practical lessons, Year 8 students are currently participating in athletics in preparation for upcoming school carnivals. As the term progresses, they will transition into modified games, providing opportunities to further enhance their teamwork, communication, and understanding of game strategies in a supportive and inclusive environment.
In the classroom, students will soon commence the unit “Bolt Like Bolt,” where they will explore fitness development and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of fitness in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This unit encourages students to take ownership of their health and wellbeing while developing lifelong skills and knowledge around physical activity.
Stage 5
YEAR 9
Year 9 PDHPE students have also been actively involved in a range of engaging learning experiences this term. In practical lessons, they have been exploring the world of athletics, focusing on developing fundamental skills, improving fitness, and building confidence across a variety of track and field events. This has provided a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves and prepare for upcoming school carnivals.
In the classroom, students will soon commence a unit of work centred on mental health and illness, with a focus on the overall wellbeing of young people. Throughout this unit, they will develop an understanding of factors that influence mental health, explore strategies to support their own wellbeing, and learn how to seek help and support others.
YEAR 10
Year 10 PDHPE students have been actively engaged in both theory and practical learning this term. In the classroom, they have been exploring a unit titled “Too Good to Be True,” which focuses on social media, including how it can influence perceptions, decision-making, and wellbeing. Students have been developing their ability to think critically about online content and recognise potential risks.
They are also about to begin a unit titled “Your Guide to a Good Night Out,” which will focus on safe partying, responsible decision-making, and strategies to support personal wellbeing in social situations. This upcoming unit will encourage students to consider risk, peer influence, and how to make positive choices.
In practical lessons, students have been participating in round robin tournaments, developing their teamwork, communication, and game sense across a variety of activities. They have also recently begun their “Carnivals Galore” unit, where they are building fitness, skills, and enthusiasm in preparation for the upcoming Cross Country and Athletics carnivals. It has been pleasing to see such strong participation and positive engagement from all students.
