Level 1 & 2

What a way to begin Term Two, with our Grade Two students having their day camp experience at Mt Evelyn Discovery Camp!

Many thanks to all the parent volunteers who supported the day and to all the families who made the trip out to Mt Evelyn to pick their child up. This experience is a really valuable one, as this is where our Grade Two's will revist in Grade Three, for an overnight camp.

INFORMATION & REMINDERS

Term 2 Progress Interviews this Wednesday

Bookings are still open if you have not yet scheduled a Term 2 Progress Interview, and will close at 9pm tomorrow night. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and hear how your child is settling into school.

These are scheduled as ONLINE interviews and Webex links will be sent out before the meetings.

Home Learning.

Our Grade One and Two students bring home take home books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. We encourage you  to read these books more than once with your child to build fluency.

One Friday, we will be sending home a 'homework book' with your child. In this book will be a hard copy of the following week's UFLI homework (which is usually shared here!) and a copy of your child's fluency reading. We would encourage you to read this text multiple times with your child to help build fluency. We will share with you in the following weeks different ways you could use this text at home.

Personal Belongings:

We are seeing an increase in personal belongings like footy cards, teddies, remote controlled cars and toys being bought to school. We strongly encourage students to leave these items at home as at times they can cause distress when they become lost or damaged and can distract students from learning time.

The Grade Two students are also exploring Place Value. Students will be looking at three and four digit numbers, making, reading, writing and representing these. Students will use tools such as number lines, to help understand the 'place' of these numbers.

Wellbeing

This week in wellbeing we will be following the SWPBS focus of 'Being a Learner' thinking about how we can share equipment with others.

Students will also be completing a Cyber Safety Lesson which focuses on understanding that anything shared online can be online forever.  This includes thinking about the word 'integrity' and what this means in regards to online usage.
