Primary School

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope that everyone enjoyed the change in routine these past 3 weeks have offered. I would like to extend a special welcome to all the new students and their families who started with us either throughout Term 2 or at the start of this term: Ollie, Evie, George, Max, Maggie, Dash, Elara, Chloe, Chayse, Ned and James.

What a wonderful start to Term 3 the Kindergarten students have had! They all settled back into school life beautifully after their holidays and were full of excitement as they counted down to the 100 Days of Kindergarten Party. Today, our Kindergarten students celebrated their 100th day of school! The children came dressed in the theme of 100 and wowed us all with their creative and imaginative outfits. Mrs Ridge, Ms Gregory, Mrs Campi, Miss Tenace, and Mrs Sly joined in the fun, dressing up as 100 days brighter.

The day began with a parade past the Primary School classrooms, where our Kinders were cheered on with bubbles and party whistles from their peers. After the parade, the children enjoyed a range of fun activities, with some wonderful support from our Year 6 helpers Lucy, Lily, Emma and Hannah. We then shared a special lunch together, which was full of delicious treats and plenty of laughter. It was a joyful and memorable milestone, and we are so proud of our Kindergarten students for the way they embraced the day with such enthusiasm. Congratulations Kinders, keep shining bright!

We are also very proud to share that at our recent Stage Assembly, five of our Kindergarten students received awards for their fantastic efforts and achievements. Congratulations to Ged Looney, Jack Miles, Zephyr Smidge, Jimmy Scott and Clay Myers. We are so proud of you!

Spotlight on Learning - Project Firestorm

Last term, Stage 3 students engaged in 'Project Firestorm', a rich and meaningful unit that deepened their understanding of environmental management and the ways people influence the places they live. With a focus on Australian bushfires, students investigated how communities can prepare for, survive and recover from catastrophic fire events.

Using design thinking and scientific investigation, students worked toward answering a driving question by creating two key outcomes:

  • A detailed poster outlining a household bushfire plan, including bushfire kit preparation.
  • An original invention to support bushfire prevention, management, or recovery.

This project empowered students to think critically and creatively about real-world challenges that impact the Australian community.

Spotlight on Learning - Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

Mrs. Pinson’s Year 4 students in SAKG have been busy planning and working in the gardens with two local guest speakers; Hayley Purbrick and Lachie Bull who both have an incredible passion for sustainability and environment. The five key elements they covered were:

1. Identifying seeds and bulbs quiz and games.

2. Planting of the seeds for vegetables and fruits, including herbs and flowers to attract the bees.

3. Practical cooking classes making tasty dishes from some of our garden produce.

4. Using leftover foods for the worms and chickens.

5. Recycling and tearing old used paper to make worm farms.

Get Happier Project

At Moama Anglican Grammar, we are a ‘Get Happier School’. As part of our Pastoral Care approach, we have a sequential whole Primary School program called the Get Happier Project. Staff guide and support our students with a proactive, research-based, positive psychology approach, helping them on their journey to develop their own social and emotional wellbeing.

The approach focuses on internal control psychology, providing students with the tools to regulate their own emotions, make positive choices and foster strong relationships. This way of thinking does not mean that we will always be happy, as we know this is not realistic, but rather that it is a way to support ourselves through both the great times and the more difficult times. Hence the title ‘A Get Happier Project’.

The Get Happier Project runs alongside the many other elements of our Pastoral Care program and provides students with the opportunity to develop their own emotional intelligence and build the skills and confidence they will need to create their future. As a parent/guardian of students attending Moama Anglican Grammar, a Get Happier School Subscriber, you are eligible to receive a free copy of the Happy Parenting e-book - Raising Positive and Empowered Kids. This great resource will help you better understand the Get Happier Project and use a common language between home and school. Please contact Primary reception and they can email you a copy.

Stage 1 Assembly

Students in Year 1A did an amazing job hosting this week’s Stage Assembly and teaching us all about the weather as part of their learning in Science. Students confidently shared what they had discovered about different types of weather, including windy, sunny, partly cloudy, stormy, cloudy, snowy, rainy and foggy days. Their clear explanations, enthusiasm, and creative presentation helped everyone understand how weather can change and how it affects our daily lives. Thank you, 1A, for your hard work and for putting on such an informative and engaging assembly!

Congratulations to the Stage 1 Superstars:

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart has officially kicked off for Year 5 this term at Moama Anglican Grammar! This fun and active program, run by the Heart Foundation, encourages students to stay healthy, learn new skipping skills, and raise funds for life-saving heart research. Our goal is for our Year 5 Heart Heroes to collectively log 40 hours of skipping throughout the program! We encourage Year 5 families to get involved by registering online and sharing their child’s fundraising page with friends and family www.jumprope.org.au/parents.

In addition, we are hosting our inaugural 2025 MAG Art Exhibition and Silent Art Auction in the Multi-Purpose Hall on the same night as the Parent/Teacher Interviews. The exhibition hosts art pieces from all students in the Primary School as a way to celebrate the great learning in Visual Arts. Concurrently, the collaborative Primary class artworks will be on display, with parents invited to place silent bids. This creative fundraising event supports the construction of our new Multi-Purpose Stadium, which is planned to open early in 2026. Silent bidding is now open and will close on Wednesday 6 August at 9:00 pm. To participate, parents can place a bid by clicking the link here
