A Safe Space for Bikes Thanks to Community Bank Warrandyte

We’re thrilled to announce that our brand new Bike Shed is now complete, providing a more accessible, safe, secure, and weather-protected space for students to store their bikes. Active transport, like riding their bikes, brings so many benefits to young learners — from boosting physical health and wellbeing to building independence and riding with friends for a positive start to a school day. We envision that a more suitable space will encouraging more of our students to ride to school as the weather starts to warm up again.

This upgrade was made possible through the generous funding from Community Bank Warrandyte. Without the strong support from the Community Bank the continual upgrades to facilities and infrastructure at ACPS simply would not be possible. We are so grateful for all you do for our school, students and community. For those that do not know, Community Bank Warrandyte returns up to 80% of its profits directly back into our local community. Thanks to the support of their customers, the Bank has invested over $5.5 million into locally inspired projects over the years– including $400,000 in the past year alone. Their commitment continues to strengthen our school and community, and we are incredibly grateful for their partnership. Thank you!

From New Facilities to Sporting Victories

Last week’s Athletics Carnival at the Tom Kelly Athletics Track was a shining example of student enthusiasm and school spirit. For many of our Prep to Grade 3 students, it was their first proper carnival, and they embraced every event with energy and determination. Across all year levels, there were countless personal bests, moments of encouragement from the sidelines, and displays of skill in running, jumping, and throwing events.

The competition was close, but the final House standings were:

1st – Panners

2nd – Diggers

3rd – Miners

4th – Crushers

Congratulations to our Age Champions:

  • U/9: Harlow and Otto

  • U/10: Piper and Beau

  • U/11: Violet and Ryder

  • U/12: Emily, Abby, and Jackson

Our Senior Girls AFL team delivered an unforgettable performance at the Regional Championships. After three challenging pool games, they emerged undefeated, earning a Semi-Final against the runners-up of the other pool. A brilliant second-half effort saw them dig deep to take the win and advance to the Grand Final against the other pool’s undefeated leaders. In a masterclass of skill, grit, and determination, the girls pulled ahead in the second half and secured the Regional title – and a place in the State Championships next Thursday. Well done, girls! A special thank you to Paul Morgan for his outstanding coaching on the day.

The Senior Girls Netball Team played in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Finals on Wednesday. While they did not progress to the State Championships, the standard of netball on display was outstanding, with incredibly fast games, high skill levels and talented players in every team. Our girls played fantastically, showing skill, teamwork, and determination, and we are so proud of their achievement in reaching the Regional Finals.

And of course, there’s been just as much happening inside the classrooms – I encourage you to read the Grade level articles in this newsletter to see the great learning and creative work our students have been doing.
