This term, the 3-6 students will learn to name, label and use 'Body Parts' (Il Corpo) in Italian conversations whilst developing their pronunciation and intonation of Italian-specific sounds. Students will also develop their vocabulary around 'The Clothing' (I Vestiti). The students started their lesson this week by playing games of 'Memory' pairing up English and Italian clothing words.
In the F-2 area, students explore Italian through a fun and engaing unit on pets. They begin with greetings like “Ciao, mi chiamo…” and learn pet names such as il cane and la gatta. They express likes and dislikes (mi piace / non mi piace), describe animals using colours and sizes, and use action verbs like giocare (to play) and mangiare (to eat).
Students will begin lesson with fun and exciting songs focusing on words and topics from the first two terms.
This week, students have loved singing and dancing to 'The Buongiorno' song.
We absolutely LOVE singing this song in the F/1 class. We hope you can have a sing and dance just like we do in class.
The Sport program for Term 2 has started with football, and as you might expect there has been a lot of enthusiasm for this topic! We've gratefully commandeered Sean's time and expertise to help take our lessons to the next level.
Last week we were hit with unappealing weather but still managed to run our lessons in the lovely warmth of the Cill Dara where we could do a lot of simple ball-handling drills. As soon as the sun returned, we were back out at the netball courts to either develop or build on our handballing and kicking skills. Next week we will also add movement to increase the challenge!
The students have loved Sean's enthusiasm in this topic and we are very grateful to have him.
Back in the art room for term 3 and we’ve started off with a water week competition from Goulburn Valley Water. The students are creating toilet paper wrapper designs with the theme ‘don’t flush it’. It was quite the laugh and lots of fun drawing some of the images. It’s going to be a tough choice to pick the finalists!
Also how good are our new displays of collage art work from the end of last term looking in our corridors!
