Celebrating Milestones Through Student Art

Visual Art students Emily, Lily, Scarlet, Sophia, Evie, Hannah, and Alex collaborated with Artist in Residence, Rosina Possingham, to create cyanotype prints featured on the Loreto Marryatville Mannequin’s skirt as part of the Loreto travelling exhibition. The Acacias and Indigenous Gardens were chosen as key motifs, symbolising Loreto College Marryatville’s 120-year history. Since 1999, our Artist in Residence Program has offered students immersive, hands-on experiences with practising artists. Rosina’s collaborative practice provided a strong mentorship model, guiding students through creative challenges. The 150 Years Mannequin Project offered students an important educational experience. Seeing their contributions recognised within a professional context has served as both an inspiration and an acknowledgment of their achievements.

Mary Ward Sculptor Visits Loreto Marryatville

This week Meliesa Judge, Mary Ward Sculptor, visited the 150 Years and 120 Years exhibitions at Loreto Marryatville. The mannequin’s skirt from John XXIII College features large images of her sculptures of Mary Ward and Saint Ignatius. Meliesa's sculptural practice is deeply rooted in storytelling, drawing on historical research to reflect the values and vision of Mary Ward. Her work has become a powerful visual symbol within Loreto communities, inviting reflection on Mary Ward’s courage and faith. Meliesa’s visit celebrates the enduring role of art in shaping our identity.
