Mathematics in Term 3 – Year 1 and 2

This term in Maths, our Year 1 students will continue learning through the Explicit Maths Program (EMP). This is a high-quality, evidence-based program that supports the clear and structured teaching of maths concepts. Students will focus on building strong number skills, including learning how to break numbers apart (partitioning) and improving their number fact fluency with numbers up to 120.

Year 2 students will continue following the Ochre scope and sequence, another strong, research-based maths program. Their lessons will include regular revision of previous learning, daily fluency tasks, and ongoing assessment to track their growth. This term, Year 2 students will explore multiplication and division, and begin working with geometry  concepts like 2D shapes and 3D objects.

We look forward to seeing your child continue to grow in confidence and skill as they continue to develop their mathematical thinking!
