Premier's Debating Competition - Round Updates
Last term, our Year 5 and 6 debating team—Devante Chea, Violet Nguyen, Ryan Hong and Natalie Nguyen—continued their journey in the Premier’s Debating Challenge, completing both their second and third rounds.
In Round 2, the team debated against Fairfield West Public School on the topic “That we should make the school day longer.” Our team presented strong, persuasive arguments and came away with a well-deserved win!
In Round 3, they faced Kings Park Public School and tackled the challenging topic “That schools should fine parents when their child is being mean to others.” Although we didn’t win this round, the team showed excellent teamwork, confidence, and critical thinking under pressure.
The team is now preparing for their final round against Revesby Public School on Thursday 14th August. The topic will focus on health and fitness, and we wish them the best of luck!
Well done to Devante, Violet, Ryan and Natalie—we are so proud of your dedication and growth throughout the competition!
Stage 2 - When Life Gives You Lemons...
Last term, 3/4S, 3/4H and 3/4N had a great time making lemonade together! This hands-on experience was not only fun, but gave students a shared experience to talk and write about.
This term, students have been using that experience to write a procedure on how to make lemonade. The activity has made writing lessons more engaging and helped students learn how to clearly explain steps in order.
It’s been a fantastic way to bring writing to life – with a little lemony fun along the way!
Stage 2 Excursion - All Aboard the Endeavour!
In Term 2, Stage 2 went on an exciting excursion to the Australian National Maritime Museum in the city. As part of our integrated History and English unit, students explored life during the time of early European exploration and colonisation.
One of the highlights was stepping aboard a replica of the HMB Endeavour, the ship famously sailed by Captain James Cook. Students were fascinated to see the cramped living conditions, learn about the daily routines of sailors, and imagine what life might have been like on board during long sea voyages.
This hands-on experience helped bring our learning to life, sparking rich class discussions and inspiring students’ writing back in the classroom. It was a fantastic day of discovery and deepened students’ understanding of this important period in Australia’s history.
NAIDOC Day
During the final week of Term 2, we held our NAIDOC Day celebrations. The weather did not play nicely with us on this day, which meant we had to do all of our activities inside. This did not stop us from enjoying a great day participating in traditional indigenous activities. Students were exposed to a range of experiences that deepened their knowledge of the Aboriginal culture. Thank you to Miss Kate and the Aboriginal Committee for all their organisation. It was great to have so many community members involved in the day as we welcomed back Mrs Anderson for the day.

Marrabang Wagaggee
This term has been a busy term for our Aboriginal Dance group Marabang Wagaggee. Having already performed at NAIDOC celebrations for St George Community Housing, Bonnyrigg High School and this week at Cabramatta West Public School. The celebrations at Bonnnyrigg High School gave students the chance to catch up with older siblings and relatives for a great day. Thank you again to Miss Kate and to Mrs Anderson and Minjari for helping out.
Western Sydney Wanderers Coaching Clinic
This week saw the start of the Western Sydney Wanderers Coaching Clinic for Stage 2 and 3. Whilst it started off on a wet day, which restricted us to indoors, the students still learnt valuable skills for soccer. This will continue each Wednesday for those students in Stage 2 and 3 that expressed interest. We thank the Wanderers for supporting our students and assisting in delivering a fantastic sports program.
