Snapshots from the week

Year 11 Camp - Maroon Dam
From setting up tents and heading out on the water to soaking up the fresh air and team spirit, the energy has been high.
We’re proud of the way our students are embracing the challenges and bonding as a cohort. Head over to our Facebook page to watch some interviews from students at camp!
Year 9 Music Academy
This week our year 9 Music Academy class welcomed Josephine Jin from the Griffith University Conservatorium of Music. Josephine ran a Baroque music workshop with our young musicians that focused on key aspects such as sequencing, modulation and antiphony.
Using these foundations of Baroque composition, the Music Academy class composed their own Cantus Firmus (chant) works. These skills will help inform their performances, compositions and theory exams next term.
Our year 9 Music Academy students were thoroughly engaged in the workshop and are now looking forward to putting their knowledge and skills into their performances and compositions.
A Proud Moment for Balmoral State High School
We celebrate Renee Coffey MP, who delivered her first speech in Parliament and gave a heartfelt shoutout to Coffey House and her connection at Balmoral State High School.
Renee’s story is deeply connected to our school—her parents met right here at Balmoral State High School, and now their daughter is standing proudly in Parliament, representing her community with purpose and pride.
From Coffey House to the corridors of Parliament—what an inspiring journey!
Congratulations, Renee. Your Balmoral family is cheering you on!

We’re thrilled to launch our new podcast, Balmoral Book Banter
—a new initiative at Balmoral State High School exploring books, ideas, and the power of storytelling.
Episode 1 is live now and features a special guest, Di Farmer MP, to help us celebrate the launch and share thoughts on the joy of reading.
Massive shoutout to Mr Nick Howard for driving this project with passion and purpose. It’s just one example of how we’re embracing innovation to bring learning to life in new and exciting ways.

Lunchbox Sessions
Yesterday’s Lunchbox Sessions brought industry insight straight to the lunch table! With snacks on hand and curiosity in the air, students heard directly from two incredible guests — the Australian Dental Association and the Queensland Ambulance Service.
Both organisations shared valuable advice, career pathways, and real-life experiences that left students inspired and thinking about their futures.
A huge thank you to our guest speakers and everyone who joined us. Stay tuned for the next session — there’s more to come! 🚀
