Year 8 Reflection Days
On Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 July, Year 8 students took part in a Reflection Day led by the Passionist Retreat Team, held in the College Hall. The day focused on the themes of trust, connection and personal growth.
Through guided discussions and a Christ-centred ritual inspired by the story of the Good Samaritan, students explored the importance of relationships and emotional wellbeing. They were given practical tools to help build stronger connections with their peers and contribute to a more compassionate and united year level.
The Passionist Retreat Team work closely with our College to deliver these reflection days and retreats. Over time, we aim to help students understand the difference between a retreat and other school events, like camps. Retreats offer a chance for deep reflection, faith exploration and community building—something we are proud to continue fostering through our partnership with the Passionists.
Year 11 Retreat – Phillip Island Adventure Resort
The Year 11 Retreat will take place from Monday 18 August to Wednesday 20 August at Phillip Island Adventure Resort. Each year, this experience is carefully planned in collaboration with the Passionist Retreat Team, taking into account feedback from past retreats.
The retreat aims to give students the opportunity to:
- Learn more about themselves
- Deepen their understanding of their peers
- Reflect on their spirituality and relationship with God
- Recognise their gifts and talents
- Consider the experiences that have shaped their lives
- Experience prayer and reflection, both individually and as a community
Retreats are a valuable part of our wellbeing and faith formation program, and we look forward to another meaningful experience for our Year 11 students.
Heritage Day Mass – Wednesday 13 August
As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, the Heritage Day Mass will be held on Wednesday 13 August during Heritage Week. The Mass will coincide with the Feast of the Annunciation, and all students are reminded that full College Winter uniform must be worn for this formal occasion.
Tinnies for Vinnies – Tuesday of Heritage Week
In keeping with the spirit of generosity that has always been part of our College heritage, we invite all families to support Tinnies for Vinnies Tuesday.
Please consider purchasing an extra item—such as canned food, pasta, toiletries or something warming—for your child to bring to school. These donations will support local families in need this winter.
Santa Teresa (Ltyentye Apurte) Immersion 2025
Following a successful immersion experience in 2024, we were initially disappointed to learn that the Santa Teresa community immersion program would not run in 2025 due to changes within the community.
However, we are incredibly proud to share that Marist-Sion College is one of only two schools specially invited to take part in a pilot program to live and work in the community in early October.
Congratulations to the students selected for this unique opportunity, and sincere thanks to all students who expressed interest and applied. This pilot program represents a significant step in deepening our connection with the Santa Teresa community and continuing our commitment to cultural understanding and service.
