Library News

As we move into August, the library has been a hive of activity, with students—and some staff—seeking warmth and comfort while curling up with a good book or magazine.
Thanks to the fantastic work of our maintenance and facilities team, we have made some welcome changes to the library furniture. Shelves have been tidied and rearranged, and our freshly cleaned new couches have been repositioned to create space for more students to enjoy the library.
These changes have been warmly received as we continue to run Lunchtime Clubs and No Tech Thursday events. On wet weather days, some students have also enjoyed watching PG-rated films in the cosy classrooms.
Library Opening Hours
As always, we remind students and families that the library is open from 8:00 am each morning until 4:30 pm every afternoon, except on Fridays when it closes at 4:00 pm.
Senior students are especially welcome to use the library as a quiet space for study and revision as they prepare for the end of the year.
Displays in the library
Recently we have had displays for Pride month, Humanities week and a wonderfully colourful NAIDOC presentation. Upcoming displays will be about Science Week, the exciting Book Week and we will continue with our 50th anniversary display of memorabilia and photos. Ms Erin Gaze continues to show her imaginative talent to produce these creative works of art to support students and staff.
New Books and Magazines
A highlight of the last few weeks has been the positive response to new books and magazines. Students have requested particular authors or books and they are eagerly snapped up as soon as they are catalogued.
New magazines have also been very popular, particularly before school as students find out about the latest music, fishing techniques or best horse blankets for the cooler weather. Students are reminded that they can chat with the friendly librarians to request other resources.
HOW TO STUDY FOR TESTS AND EXAMS
Knowing how to study effectively for tests and examinations is a skill that is essential not just for school but for life-long learning. The study skills handbook site (www.studyskillshandbook.com.au) has lots of extra information and activities for you to complete to help you build your skills for school. All students have access to the handbook via the Simon site.
Please ask the friendly library staff if you would like more details or assistance. https://www.studyskillshandbook.com.au/
