Junior School News
On Wednesday 23 of October A group of female students went to the Woman Gala day run by the city of Greater Dandenong to enjoy a exhilarating day of sports. We had 5 activities in total including HipHop aerobics, Soccer, Basketball, Self-defence and a confidence workshop. The students also got to listen to some guest speaker and their own experience with sport. Everyone enjoyed working together meeting new people and representing our school in this amazing opportunity.

Year 9 City Experience
During the first two weeks of term each year 9 class got to be part of the Lyndale Secondary College City Experience for 4 days. Students were required to find their own way to the city by train and meet their teachers in designated locations. From here the students would get to experience a range of activities that would enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wonderful city we live in.
A big shout out to Mrs. Kempinger for all the organisation of the experience.
Below are the accounts of some of our students.
During my experience in the city, I noticed the different variety of people and their lifestyles such as working in the city, going to school, shopping etc. I enjoyed multiple activities throughout the week, including the Eureka Skydeck, Shrine of Remembrance and the Blender Studios. Actually, my favourite place to visit was the Blender Studios as we got to showcase our creativity. Whilst in the city I learnt a lot about the people sleeping rough and the difficulties they face through our youth homelessness information session.
The only downside was having to be up bright and early to catch the train to the city, which is what many people have to do to get to work each day. I now understand why the school wants us to be at school on time. It helps prepare us for being on time in our future.

Our trip to the city was so much fun! From the minute we got there, everything was exciting. The busy streets, and all the people made it feel so alive. We walked around, found cool stores, ate amazing food, and saw things we’d never seen before.
One of the best parts was just exploring. We found street performers, and even huge murals painted on buildings. We tried new things from food trucks and small restaurants that felt so unique.
My favourite parts were when we went to the “Blender Studio Street Art Workshop” we were taught about how to make street paintings and how to cut the stencil out of plastic sheet and some other things. The “Shrine of Remembrance” which really taught me about how people sacrificed their lives to fight for Australia and it also explained a lot about the equipment and the military resources they were using in the fight.
I would encourage everybody else who has the chance to go and learn more about how to wonder around in the city.

Earlier this term my year level did the city experience. Our school organises the city experience to help us gain independence and learn how to travel safely and responsibility.
I enjoyed the city experience because I got to explore a new environment and learn about history in Australia. Personally, I think that its important that we learn about history in Australia because if you live here, you should understand the countries past.
I also enjoyed it because I had fun hanging out with my group and trying new foods. I tried a new dish every day. Our class was always on time for our meet ups. My favourite place was the ‘Blender Studios’, particularly because I consider myself an artist. Because I finished my artwork early, I was allowed to walk around the building and view all the artwork and appreciate different art styles.
To the younger year levels, my advice for the city experience is to wake up in time, have money on your Myki Card and learn to read the train timetables. It was a great experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.
