Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we near the end of another bustling term, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible events that have brought us together and to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and participation.

From the heartwarming Grandparents Day and the joyful celebrations of Prep 101 Days of School, to the invaluable learning experiences of the Year 4 Bike Ed Program, your engagement has made every event truly special. We also had the pleasure of celebrating the richness of culture during Italian Day, while our Year 6 students marked a spiritual milestone with the Sacrament of Confirmation.

A big shoutout to our Parents & Friends for organising a memorable Father's Day Morning and Stall, and to all who cheered on our young athletes at the District Athletics. Your support was also evident in the excitement surrounding Book Week, capped off by a vibrant parade, and our ever-popular Footy Colours Day which was today!

And of course, behind the scenes, preparations for next term’s Whole School Production are already in full swing! The dedication of our students, teachers, and volunteers is truly inspiring.  It promises to be an amazing night.

We couldn’t have done it all without the energy, enthusiasm, and commitment of our entire school community, in particular our awesome St. Pat's Staff. Thank you for helping us make this term one to remember!

Wishing everyone a restful break, and we look forward to seeing you next term.

Staffing Updates

I am pleased to announce that we have re-appointed Mrs. Joelle Diakrousis as our Deputy Principal/Learning Diversity Leader for 2025-2027.  I am also pleased to announce that we have appointed Mr. Anthony Speranza as our new Deputy Principal/Learning & Teaching Leader for 2025-2027.  Mr Speranza is the current Deputy Principal at St. Mary's East St. Kilda and will join us for a few orientation days later in the year.

All of our staff leadership roles are due for reappointment for the next cycle 2025-2027.  We have been working on some exciting new initiatives in the leadership space and I am very much looking forward to the 2025 school year.  Announcement of positions will be made available next term once the appointment process has been completed.

It is my duty to inform the St. Patrick's School Community that Mrs Ann Earle will be retiring from teaching after our school production in Week 2 of next term.  Mrs Earle's last day will be Friday 18th October.  Mrs Earle has taught at St. Patrick's for 26 years and I would like to personally thank her for her many years of dedicated service to our community.  Miss Sarah Parkinson will be filling in for Mrs Earle for the remainder of this year.   I am currently advertising for a new performing arts teacher to begin next year.

Level Crossing Works - Warrigal Rd

Please find attached below information regarding upcoming level crossing works being carried out in September.

Summer Uniform

From the start of Term 4 all students can begin to wear their School Summer Uniform. The full transition to Summer Uniform will be by Monday 21st October (Week 3, Term 4).  Please note that as we are a sunsmart school, all students are required to wear their school hats from the first day of Term 4 whilst outside.  There will be a 1 week grace period for this.  At the start of Week 2, Term 4 all staff will be enforcing the 'no hat, no play' policy.  I also strongly encourage all students to wear sunscreen every day and to reapply sunscreen before going out to lunch.

P & F Colour Run

Don't forget that we will be holding our first ever colour run on Friday 1st November.  Please use the following link to register your child/children for this exciting event https://colourblast.com.au/registration/?stpatsmentone

The fundraising for this event will go directly to our P & F project of replacing the senior students adventure playground.  We have selected our playground company and the design, and are in the process of finalising the colour scheme.
