The last few weeks have been quite busy and we have more exciting events to look forward to.

In our first week back, the Level 56 Students competed in the District Summer Sport Carnival. It was a fantastic day and we proud of all the student's efforts on the day. Congratulations to our girls Volleyball team, boys Cricket Blast team and boy Basketball team who both progressed to the Division Stage and both placed 3rd in their respective events.

A massive congratulations to both our 56 and 34 Future Stars team who have qualified for the State Hooptime tournament in December.

Curriculum Update

Foundation:

Over the past few weeks, the Foundation students focus was on the Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) kicking and passing.

The core sport which was involved in practising these skills was soccer. During the first lesson the students worked on strategies and methods on how to control the ball using their feet from a stationary position, before moving around the room. The students then combined some of the skills such as dribbling, toe stopping and passing in a modified relay.

Once the students demonstrated competency in performing the skills, they progressed to a game of Block Soccer, Clean up the Yard and Space Wars. Both these games provided the students with the opportunity to showcase their skills from the previous lessons.

The Level Two students also went out on to the oval and played a modified game of soccer. This game allowed the students to apply all of their prior learning but also build on their teamwork skills.

Year Three/Four:

Over the last few weeks, the Level 34 students have commenced their three-week Squash program which is delivered by an accredited coach from Gecko Sports. 56 District Summer Sport:

OnWednesday 9th October our Level 56 Students represented our school at the District Summer Sports Carnival. On the day, we had teams entered for Volleyball, Cricket Blast and Basketball. It was fantastic to hear and witness the wonderful sportsmanship and team spirit on display at each sport. We had some fantastic results over the day, but most importantly, each student came away having fun. Congratulations to our boys Basketball team, girls Volleyball Team and one of our Cricket Blast teams who have progressed to the Division Stage.  Well done to all students, you should be proud of your efforts over the course of the day.

56 Region Future Stars Hooptime

OnWednesday 16th October our Level 56 Future Stars teams competed at the Region tournament at State Basketball Centre. Over the day we competed in four round robin games winning three of them. This put us in a great position going into the final as we were placed to face the third ranked team from the other pool. To the team's credit, at times they were challenged but their level of resilience shone through and helped propelled them into the State Championships later in December. Congratulations on an amazing effort thus far, you are now down to roughly the best thirty-six schools in Victoria.

Division Summer Sport:

On Friday 18th October some of our Level 56 boys represented our school at the Division Basketball Carnival. The talent on display was tremendous which makes it no surprise that the competition came down to the wire. Unfortunately, our boys missed out on progressing by percentage. In saying that, their efforts and continual sportsmanship was terrific to watch and be a part of.

On Wednesday 23rd October we had two Level 56 teams represent our school at the Division Sport Carnival (Girls Volleyball and Boys Cricket Blast). Both teams were fantastic on the day both placing 3rd in their respective competitions. Unfortunately both teams do not progress to the next stage but we congratulate them on their efforts.

Primary Schools Volleyball Cup

On Tuesday 22nd October select 56 students represented our school at the Primary Schools Volleyball Cup. This is our second year entering into the competition and it has was clear that the skill level of each student has grown in the last twelve months.

We had five teams compete in the round robin tournament and the way they all conducted themselves was terrific. From the day, we had one team win their division, our grade 6 boy's team. They went through undefeated which is a fantastic effort.

Region Athletics

On Thursday 24 October a select group of our students represented the school at the Eastern Metropolitan Athletics Carnival. To reach this level is an outstanding achievement in itself. The level of competition at this stage is extremely high and we could not be any proud of student's efforts on the day. They all gave of their best and as a school, that's all we ask for. Congratulations on making it all the way to this level.

34 Region Future Stars Hooptime

On Wednesday 30th October the below students represented our school at the Region Hooptime tournament. After convincingly winning the District stage back in May this year they were well poised for another strong outing.

They picked up from where they left off, winning all three of their round robin games to progress through to one of the qualifying finals for state. The pressure of the final didn't faze the students as they continued to perform and do the simple/basic things well. In the end, they won their final quite comfortably and will now head to the State carnival later in December. The students should be super proud of their efforts and the level of team basketball they displayed. Good luck!

56 Region All-Stars Hooptime

On Thursday 31st October the below 56 students represented our school at the Region Hooptime tournament. Unfortunately, they were a player down, but to battle on with six players throughout the whole day was a tremendous effort. The boys won two of their three round robin games to advanced to the qualifying final for state. Unfortunately, they came up against a very strong team and went down in the game. As a school we couldn't be any proud of the boys and their efforts over each carnival. A big thanks to Nate for coaching the boys in each carnival, the boys couldn't of made is this far without your support..
