ENGLISH

This term in our spelling groups, we have been learning about the plural 's' and we have learnt how it works within words. We have learnt about lots of new tricky words and we are getting better at spelling them.

In writing, we have been learning about newspaper reports and how to write one. The students have researched newsworthy events and have been learning the elements of a newspaper report. The students have enthusiastically written newspaper reports about events that have happened to them.

In our reading lessons, the students have been using the comprehension strategies learnt throughout the year to read and understand short stories. We have been focusing on understanding vocabulary, reading fluently aloud, making connections to the story and summarising the important information.

MATHEMATICS

We began this term exploring measurement. We learnt how to measure volume, capacity and mass. The students particularly enjoyed the hands on activities in which we measured liquids and weighed solids.

For the last two weeks, we have been exploring statistics and data. Again, our students thoroughly enjoyed collecting data by playing games and conducting experiments. A highlight was investigating which smartie colour was most common in a packet of smarties (we loved eating the smarties afterwards!).

GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL PERSON AFTERNOON

We had a wonderful afternoon hosting our grandparents and special people at Upwey South Primary School. The Year Three and Four area hosted a portrait session where there were some amazing sketches created.

CAMP

We had the most amazing  time during our stay at Mount Evelyn Discovery Camp. All of the students stepped out of their comfort zones, gained new friendships and most importantly...had fun!

Here are some pictures of our time at camp.
