Raising Children - The Australian Parenting website

https://raisingchildren.net.au/

Are you unsure how to support your child to find a balance between screen time and physical activity? Are you concerned about how to support your child’s mental health? Is the world of constant online social interaction for your child overwhelming? Are you finding communicating and connecting with your child more and more difficult as they get older? These (and many more) are all normal concerns that parents have as children grow and develop.

Raising Children has some excellent information about how to navigate a variety of issues that children will experience as they move from being a preschooler, to school age, to preteen, to teen. Information is broken down into each age group and covers topics such as behaviour, communicating and relationships, development, entertainment and technology, family life, physical and mental health, safety and sleep.

As well as information, there are a variety of strategies, activities and videos to support you in understanding how to best support your child. In addition to the website, Raising Children also has a facebook page with relevant articles and the opportunity to interact with parents who are having the same challenges.

RU OK?

Got a feeling that someone you know or care about isn’t behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or they’re just not themselves. Trust that gut instinct and act on it.

By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, you can follow our conversation steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.

Please reach out to the school if you have any questions or concerns.
