LEAD Class

LEAD Class visit Delacombe Kindergarten

The LEAD Class recently had the opportunity to attend Delacombe Kindergarten. It was a thoroughly wonderful experience for all the students and here are some of their experiences:

“On Thursday 12 September, the LEAD Class visited the Delacombe Kindergarten class which was a fun and memorable experience. We spent some time with the children, starting by giving them bubbles to play with. It was amazing how something so simple could make them so happy. They ran around trying to pop the bubbles, laughing and smiling the whole time. Toby and I also played tag and built big cubby houses with the kids, which was a load of fun. Another group did a scavenger hunt based on the book the Green Sheep. The children were excited to find the hidden items and solve the clues. It was great to see how much they enjoyed it and how they looked up to us as older students. Throughout the day we played some music for them, and their reactions were so sweet. This visit made me appreciate the energy and creativity of younger kids and how much fun learning can be." Toby Robertson and Archie Frew

“Our time at the kindergarten was thoroughly enjoyable as we engaged in numerous fun activities such as campfire building, What’s the Time Mr Wolf, tag, bean bag throwing, Play-Doh building and finding the green sheep. We both learnt how to alter our speech and behaviour so that we could effectively communicate with the children. It was interesting to see the different characters within the group and the different responses that each individual had. The Play-Doh building was joyful because we got to see how creative toddlers can be and finding the green sheep was intriguing as we saw the alternative forms of problem-solving skills that the children possessed. Overall, our time at the kindergarten provided us with a memorable experience as we began to work on and consolidate our skills of effective communication, kindness, responsibility, and selflessness.“ Zain Bahar and Oscar Fitzgerald

“We had such a good time at the Delacombe Kindergarten, it was such a fun experience to see the kids and see how much fun they were having. We enjoyed playing music for the kids, including songs like the bluey theme and all too well by Taylor Swift as well as some other fun songs that the kids seemed to really enjoy. It was so fun to see the kids rushing up to us to play with us as soon as we stepped into the building.” - Charlotte Warrior and Tilly Scott

“We had an amazing time at the kindergarten. We planned and brought many activities for the kids to enjoy on the day and to help us connect with them. Many of the kids enjoyed colouring and decorating the bear puppets and the colouring sheets we brought along, we were able to learn a lot about them and participate in many things such as reading with them, a scavenger hunt and general play.  We also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with them, all the kids gathered around and sung with us. We also had fun popping some bubbles, playing on the swing did some puzzles. We spent a lot of time doing this and found out the 4 year olds were better at puzzles than us!  Going to the kinder helped us improve our communication skills with younger people and showed us what it’s like to go back to kindergarten.”  Eliza Lomax and Amber Howes

“The time we spent at the kindergarten was amusing and very enjoyable. The excursion provoked nostalgia and fun memories of early learning and playing.  From building blocks and playing tag, listening to music and story time. Kinder was a place where we began to discover the world around us. Being able to visit kindergarteners reminded us of a special chapter in our childhood, the same one they are experiencing now.” Lucia Dupon and Lil Wijeratne

A parent of a kindergarten child also shared some feedback stating:

“The way all of these students went out of their way to make each kinder child feel special was really lovely to see. They got down with them and played their little games, blew bubbles for them, gave out stickers and even showed their musical talents playing their instruments, I hear the bluey song was a big hit! My daughter has not stopped talking about how much she loved having the students to play with and apparently even shed a little tear when they had to go back to school."
