PRINCIPAL's Message

Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Friends

Wear it Purple Day

It was great to see many Frankston High School students and staff wearing something purple and supporting Wear it Purple Day on Friday 30 August. This is an annual LGBTIQA+ awareness day especially for young people, based in Australia. Supporters wear purple to celebrate diversity and young people from the LGBTIQA+ community.  Well done and thank you to Mr Jarryd Brand and his team.

Aerobics – National Finals

Thank you to Ms Gen Donovan and Mrs Cindy Bryant who took our Aerobics students to the National Finals in Brisbane departing on Saturday 31 August. Our students performed extremely well including being crowned National Champions in the Secondary Large Teams (Year 7-12), and 2nd place for our ‘Sparkling Sapphire’ Year 7 pre-choregraphed team. All students including our pairs performed extremely well and we are very proud of them!!!

Parent Student Teacher Conferences (PSTC) – Thursday 5 September

Thank you to all teachers for their efforts in providing feedback to parents/carers and students during our remote PSTC. Thank you to all parents/carers and students who participated. Thank you to Mr John Simon and Mr Daniel Haddon for their efforts organising these.

Central Australia Trip

Our Year 11 Central Australia Trip departed on Friday 13 September. Thank you to Ms Tiff Greenhill, Mr Cam Heyes, Mrs Jodie Burton, Ms Anne Thomson and Mrs Tina Thomas for their efforts organising this opportunity for our students. Thank you to those staff participating with Jodie: Ms Leonie Argiriou, Mr James Arshid, Mr Jack Barbour, Ms Emily Blaak, Ms Luisa Harrasser, Ms Veronique Lapierre, Ms Hannah Martin, Ms Lorelei Tildesley and Mr Alex Trickovic.

This is often commented by our community and past students and teachers to be a trip of a lifetime. Highlights include seeing Ayers Rock at sunset, exploring the Watarrka National Park home of Northern Territory’s most spectacular gorges, visiting the ‘Garden of Eden’ and ‘Lost City’. Learning about First National community, culture and country. Exploring the Mataranka Thermal Pools and canoeing down the Nitmiluk Gorge.  We look forward to hearing of a wonderful experience for all students and staff, and a safe and healthy return of all on Friday 27 September.

French Trip

Our 2024 French trip departed Wednesday 18 September, which is the first trip to our Sister School post-COVID. Thank you to Mr Cam Heyes, Ms Tiff Greenhill, Mr Chris Sutcliffe and Ms Paige Jessulat for their efforts organising and supporting this opportunity for our students. We look forward to a successful trip and visit to our Sister School Lycee Jean Zay in Orleans near Paris, with the group returning on Tuesday 8 October.

September Year 12 Practice Examinations

During this September holiday period, we are again running our Year 12 Practice Examinations. Thank you to Ms Tiffany Greenhill for her efforts organising these, to be run by our examination supervisors and overseen by the Principal Team on various days throughout the two weeks. It is an important opportunity for our students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge under examinations conditions leading up to the VCAA examination period.
