Wellbeing & Engagement Collection Survey (WEC)

Every year, students in years 4-12 across South Australia engage in the Wellbeing & Engagement Collection (WEC) Survey.

"The WEC asks students about their views on wellbeing and engagement with school.

The WEC provides the government and schools with information to support improving and maintaining students’ health, happiness, well-being and relationships.

It gives schools, the community and government an insight into what needs to happen to make sure students experience success and are provided with resources and opportunities to reach their full potential." - Department for Education

In this Wellbeing & Engagement edition, we'd like to present to you the 2023/24 WEC data specifically about Emotional Wellbeing.

Our 2024 data indicates that we have had a slight increase in how many students experience sadness frequently. We acknowledge that 87% of students in years 4-6 do not experience sadness frequently, which is fantastic to see.

Please see the 2023 and 2024 WEC data comparisons

At a school level, we have already implemented our first initiative in relation to the 'Emotional Wellbeing' area of WEC that involved our Student Ambassadors starting Kindness Club, which will begin on Wednesdays during lunchtimes in term 4. This initiative was founded by the Student Ambassadors to support us in reducing how frequently students are experiencing sadness.

Please encourage your children to attend, especially if they are struggling with connecting to peers or maintaining a consistent friendship group.

Please share/discuss the timetable below with your child/ren.

September Aussies of the Month

It is my pleasure to Congratulate the September Aussies of the Month.

At LNPS, Aussie of the Month recipients are chosen using success criteria that are aligned with our school values. Students need to demonstrate the school values every day to be considered for the award. Our school values include: RESPECT, CARE & CONCERN, PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE and HONESTY

There are three students chosen each month for the award. There is one recipient chosen from the Early Years, Torrens and Fisher. Teachers from each section of the school are responsible for nominating students each month.

Please keep reading below to see the September Aussies of the Month recipients.

"Tina was the first person who came to mind when I was asked to nominate someone for Aussie of the Month. She consistently embodies our Learner Qualities and School Values, facing every challenge with a smile and a determination to overcome it. Tina’s resilience and positive attitude are an inspiration to us all. Keep believing in yourself, Tina. You can achieve anything you set your mind to."

"One quality of Levi that stands out is his inclusivity to others. He works well with anyone in the class, and has been kind and welcoming of new students, inviting them to join play.

Levi is a respected and responsible member of the class and a role model for others. He listens and manages his distractions to ensure he can do his best learning. Levi may be quiet, but he also shows confidence to speak up and stand up when something is not right."

"Halle, congratulations on your nomination as Aussie of the Month! We have seen you grow in confidence so much over the past few years. You have developed into a fabulous leader within the class who can be trusted to work collaboratively, showing excellent independence and a growing resilience. Teachers and peers alike appreciate the way you greet everyone and your cheeky sense of humour. You will be an amazing senior leader next year!"
