On Thursday the 29th of August and Friday the 30th of August Steel, Alari, Layla, Millie, Mrs Wray and Ms Martin attended the Aboriginal Learners STEM Congress at the Adelaide Convention Centre. They participated in lots of activities. The theme for this year was was about being Cultural Innovators of 65 + thousand years in the making.
An antidote from Layla and Alari:
We made animations and a bridge out of spaghetti and won the contest based on looks and strength.
The bridge was made with spaghetti, tape, glue tak, and sticks. We also made animations with sticky notes and some clay.
At the end of lunch, we were interviewed by a camera crew. We spoke in the microphone about how much we were enjoying the congress.
At the end of day one there was a science show with explosions and fire. He even lit his hands on fire!
On the second day, we walked to Adelaide Uni and we got some pipes and butchers paper. Then we had to make the water flow into the buckets evenly.
When we got back to the Convention Centre a band performed called Dem Mob and we listened to some people speak. One was Tiahni Adamson and Arthur Ah Chee.
Layla, “I really liked this experience because the activities were fun and I got to learn about my culture. Overall I would rate this a 10/10 experience”
Alari, “And I liked it because I loved it when we saw the science show because it was fun and cool to watch. I also liked when we made the animations with clay. I would rate it a 10/10.”
