Governing Council News

TERM 3 WEEK 10

Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers!

On behalf of the Governing Council, I would like to thank all of the volunteers who assisted with Sports Day catering.

Shout out to families who made donations to the Bake Sale, volunteered time serving at the Bake Sale and BBQ, packing student lunches in the background and of course cooking the BBQ.

It was great to see so many families cheering on the students throughout the day.

Thank you for your time, energy and commitment. We appreciate it and look forward to putting on the next event.

Chair, Governing Council

Update from the Finance Committee

The Finance Committee, on behalf of the LNPS Governing Council, is currently working in conjunction with the Department for Education (DfE) for our Material & Services Fees for 2025.

Material and Services play a vital role in supporting the school's operation in conjunction with funding provided by DfE.

DfE sets and uses an Index of Disadvantage to determine school funding. Due to our Index of Disadvantage level, Lockleys North Primary School receives less funding than the majority of schools across the state. Accordingly, the Materials and Services play a vital role in the effective financial management of the school.

Significant conversation is held at Governing Council meetings by our parent representatives as we want to keep costs down as much as possible.

When setting Materials and Services, the Governing Council has families in mind, endeavouring to strike a balance between the school's educational objectives, what funding is received from the department and the cost of resources.

Material and Services are used for a variety of purposes including:

· Stationery

· Classroom resources

· ICT Resources

· Library Resources

Parents are able to attend the start of our next Governing Council meeting on Monday 28th October at 7pm to learn more about Material and Services.

We appreciate everyone's support with polling and payment of Materials and Services to ensure we can continue to grow this amazing school.
