大家好!
Hello Everyone,
Congratulations on making it to the last week of Term Three. 潘老师 and 王老师 have had a great time exploring your units of inquiry in Chinese and are looking forward to continuing being open minded in Term Four as we explore new topics.
Students in Year Six have been working hard on researching Traditional Medicines of the world, learning how to start a sentence discussing their knowledge ready for Exhibition next term.
The rest of the school has begun inquiring into 中秋节 (Mid Autumn Festival) as China celebrated this on Tuesday 17th September. The Mid Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Moon Lantern Festival celebrates the harvest season and worships the moon. In Chinese culture, the moon symbolises togetherness, which is why the traditional custom is to have a big feast with friends or family. For those who aren’t able to be with their friends and family during this time, celebration messages are sent to show they are thinking of their loved ones.
Students in Foundation to Year Two have learnt how to say family in Chinese (家庭) and have drawn their family together. Students have also learnt about the traditional folktales associated with the Mid Autumn Festival, and customs such as lantern making and moon cakes which they decorated and designed patterns for.
Students in Years Three to Five have looked more deeply into folklore and traditional customs and have designed their own mooncakes and included traditional greetings and wishes in their design to pass on to their families.
Wishing you all an amazing Mid Autumn Festival and happy holidays 🙂
谢谢,
潘老师和王老师
