Visual Arts
Well what a term it has been!!!!
Foundation artists have been inquiring into all things colour - mixing and experimenting and learning about primary and secondary colours culminating in an artwork that shows their learning.
Year One and Two students have used iPads to create media artworks that were inspired by indigenous artists, Sally Morgan, Ezekiel Kwaymullina and Bronwyn Bancroft. They have also created artwork for a particular purpose - a hand dish to hold soap, a pot for a plant, a container for their jewellery.
Students in Years Three and Four focused on contemporary artist Sandra Silberzweig and were inspired by her colourful, abstract-like portraits to create a portrait of their own. They are currently creating sculptures - Year Three students are using a recycled plastic bottle as the catalyst for their art whereas the Year Four students are delving into abstract sculptures with wire and stockings. These will be featured in next term’s newsletter - they will be amazing!!!!
Year Five artists have completed and presented their stopmotion pieces and are currently delving into Pop Art - using printing as the main technique, inquiring into what is popular culture and what it means to them and how they can represent this in their work. Andy Warhol and Yayoi Kusama were two featured artists in discussions and research.
Year Sixes are in full swing into Exhibition. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Science were looked into but with an Art perspective. Students are currently looking into how art has been and is still used to express scientific discoveries.
