Performing Arts
Hi Everyone!
Here’s a summary of what we’ve been learning in Performing Arts during the last few weeks of Term Three…
Foundation
Foundation students have learnt so many new things in Performing Arts! They learnt how to project their voices, read from a script, observe and do mirror movements and how to perform to an audience with confidence! They have also learnt new drama games that help them with their expressive skills, called ‘Night at the Museum’ and ‘Splat!’.
Year One and Two
The last few weeks, Year One and Two students worked on reading Fairy Tale Scripts and then they had to memorise some of the lines. The aim was to use their voice as the expressive tool as well as adding expressive movements to their performance. This was quite challenging and students formed a new appreciation for actors and actresses who need to memorise hundreds of lines for their performances.
Year Three and Four
Year Three and Four students chose their costumes for their characters in the Short Stage Plays during week seven and eight and had their final performance during week nine. They did extremely well and demonstrated great teamwork and support for one another. Thank you so much to all the students who offered to stand in to play characters at the last minute when others were absent!
Year Five
Year Five students also had their final dress rehearsal during week eight and then performed their Clowning Routines to the Year One classes during week nine. There were a lot of laughs for the clumsy Auguste clowns and the grumpy White Face clowns with their big entrances and exits and melodramatic trips and falls. Here are some 5LR and 5EW students in their colourful Clown costumes!
Year Six
Year Six students started their Exhibition unit where we have been incorporating different Science topis into Performing Arts. They explored presenting chemistry through public speaking and physical theatre, we explored the forces of push and pull through movement and balances, and they have also presented short monologues of famous scientists.
