TRP in Year 2

A Gratitude lesson was completed with our Year 2 students to explore and identify their character and personal strengths. Through guided practice and self-reflection, students built their understanding of how their strengths help them each day, and the importance of noticing the positive strengths of others.

Why?

Gratitude cultivates a positive mindset by focusing on what is going well rather than dwelling on what is lacking or negative. This positive outlook can, in turn, strengthen individuals' belief in their own capabilities and personal strengths, leading to increased self-confidence and resilience.

Students then participated in an activity where they created a heart and wrote a compliment for a friend on it.

Student Reflections

We made hearts and talked about how to respect each other. We wrote a compliment on our hearts and thought about how kind other people in our grade are.' - Lucas (2A)

We had to give people compliments and we wrote the compliments on the hearts and decorated them. It was a fun activity and made my heart feel happy! - Chiara (2A)

We cut out a heart from paper and wrote nice things to our friends. Miss Storck made our hearts into a 'Kindness Tree.' I liked this activity, it made me feel good. - Lachie (2B)

We made a love heart and picked a couple of people to write to and then we wrote a compliment to them. I liked this lesson, it made me feel happy. - Ivy (2B)
