Club News

Monday: Art Club

Art club has been going great so far. We have had great attendees, beautiful  manners  and awesome creations. WE have had about twenty eight students attend art club. They have been listening to the leaders and doing their best to pack up.

For the next couple of weeks we are going to be making origami items like chatter boxes and flowers. We will also be making butterflies and possibly paper cranes.

We have recently been teaching Finger Knitting. This has been very popular as there have been about ten to fifteen people attending to practise finger knitting alone.

Tuesday: Library

On Tuesday’s at lunchtime Kay hosts the library club. The library is a calm space to read and relax,  there is a wide range of books to read, from picture to chapter books.

There are cushions and rocking chairs you can sit on while you read your book! You can also borrow 3 books you would like to read at home, and later return them.

Over the past few weeks there has been Preps, Year Ones, Year Twos, Year Threes and a few Year Six’s attending the Library Club. We look forward to seeing everyone next week.Luella and Kayleigh

Wednesday: Gardening Club

At the Gardening Club, there have been so many students coming to help clean up this beautiful school of ours. We have been cleaning up leaves, and sweeping around the school. Next week we will be getting ready to put in some new veggie gardens. We hope to see more people coming to Gardening Club over the next few weeks so that we can continue to keep our school looking spectacular. Gardening Club is a great way for our students to show a sense of pride in the place that they learn everyday.

Thursday: Shed 11

Every Thursday Shed Eleven comes to our school for a lunchtime club. They send two amazing people out to run some fantastic activities.

One of the activities are card games with a nice guy named Jordan, who runs the card games. Some of the card games  are giant uno and regular uno (which looks like it's fast becoming the grade 4,5 and 6s favorite card game), if you are nearby when this activity is happening you can hear people yelling with fun and a lot of laughter. The other games offered are ‘Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza’ which is a game similar to go fish. And the last card game is Spot It where there are two disks that get thrown out of the pile and if you see two of the same pictures you put your hand on the pile and say what you see, if you get it right you get the cards.

Another activity is giant chess. You can see people helping each other and having fun, when the other person loses. You can hear them saying GG’s (GG is an abbreviation of good game) and high fiving.

And the final activity is colouring and it seems that it's the Preps and Year One's favourite. They print a bunch of colouring sheets which are normally Minecraft or ROBLOX. Whilst the activities are running the people in charge take song suggestions, but they have to be family friendly.

In conclusion, Shed Eleven club is the best because it is run by some lovely people who provide interactive and fun activities.

Shed Eleven is located in Hastings on the foreshore, they have a PlayStation and Nintendo Switch on the premises and you have to be over 11 to attend. Shed Eleven also run an Art Club on Wednesday and a D.N.D Club (Dungeons and Dragons) on Thursday.

Friday: Lego Club

During this term every Friday, Lego Club has had great attendance. The most we’ve had is 23 students in total. The attendees have been wonderful to everyone around them and have been a great help while packing up. Students have been following the rules perfectly and their attitude towards the leaders and others has been outstanding.
