From the Year 2 Classroom

The time has flown and it's hard to believe it's week 7 already. We have been busy in Year 2 learning lots of new things.
In reading and writing we are looking at persuasive texts. We are reading with expression and concentrating on punctuation to make sure our reading is fluent and makes sense. We are writing our own persuasive texts, trying to convince others to agree with us on the best season.
In maths we have just finished calendars and time and are now concentrating on addition and subtraction, especially bridging to 10 to help us mentally calculate. We have also been practicing our estimating with a new game called "Etsi". We have to guess the number, then use clues to eliminate numbers from 100.
In Religion we are learning all about Lent and Easter Week. We have discussed what we are giving up and how we are getting our hearts and minds ready for Easter.
Next week we are heading to Mass on Friday at 9.30 with the Year 5's.
Just a reminder that reader diaries can be sent in on Thursday as well as Fridays. We have had lots of students forgetting their books, so Thursday's may be a better day to bring it in. It also then gives you an extra day to remember the diary.
