Next week we have our Term 1 Assessment Week. For this week students attend thier specialist subjects on one day. This allows classroom teachers a day to conduct one on one assessments with the students in the areas of Reading in English and Number in Mathematics. It allows teachers to track student growth since the end of 2024 and to target thier teaching for Term 2.

The 2025 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open!
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books.
Every student at Wheelers Hill Primary is registered for the Challenge. Your child’s class teacher will provide you with their username and password. To enter books and view the booklists visit: https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home
What does my child need to read to complete the challenge?
For Prep to Year 2 students: Children can read books by themselves or with someone else, for example, a parent, teacher, sibling, buddy or friend. You can help your child or read the book to them if they are just learning to read.
Your child’s Challenge books can come from the list for their year level or a level higher.
Prep - Year 2 students are to read or ‘experience’ 30 books (at least 20 of these from the Challenge list).
Year 3 - 6 students are to read 15 books (at least 10 of these from the Challenge list).
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier.
For more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge (Please note that dates on this website have not yet been updated but all other information is still correct for this year)
The final day to record books will be Friday 22nd August, 2025.
There are thousands of books on the list. You are welcome to visit the school library, the local library or to re-read books you have at home!
HAPPY READING!
