Dear Families,
Week 8
This week we celebrated Harmony day by wearing a touch of orange, learning about different cultures an what makes Australia special and unique.
Religious Education focus:
Students visited the Caritas Website and learnt about Toefuata’iga’s Story (Samoa). In Samoa students struggle to learn when they cannot access fresh clean water. Caritas provide waters tanks for schools in Samoa so students like Toefuata'iga can successfully learn. Students played a game that showed them how important it is to have fresh clean water everyday.
English focus:We focused on new sounds "ai" and "ay". We discussed the rules behind these sounds. We found words that did not always fit the rules, like "crayon", and "Aiden".
Reading:
In celebration of Harmony Day, students read I'm Australian Too by Mem Fox, a book that beautifully highlights the diverse communities that make up Australia and the many reasons people choose to call it home. Through this engaging story, students explored various regions across the country, deepening their understanding of Australia's multicultural identity and the unique journeys of its people. They particularly enjoyed discovering different locations mentioned in the book, sparking curiosity about the rich cultural heritage and experiences that shape the nation.
