Letter to Family and Friends

Dear Pilgrim Families,

Bringing History to Life!

Last December, my family and I embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Italy. It was a feast for the senses—so much to see, hear, experience, and, of course, taste! But beyond the beauty and culture, what truly stood out was how the history of the church came alive for me, especially in Rome.

Visiting historical sites was incredible, but the most impactful moments were those connected to Paul’s journey and his writing of his second letter to Timothy. Standing in the depths of the Mamertine Prison, where Paul was held captive, was humbling. Exploring the ancient Roman Forum, St. Peter’s Basilica, and Vatican City opened our eyes to the rich and complex history of faith. Walking along centuries-old cobblestone streets, I couldn’t help but reflect on the countless stories they held.

While I’ve never considered myself a historian, this journey deepened my appreciation for the roots of my faith and the struggles the early Christians faced - so different from our world today. Inspired by Paul’s words in 2 Timothy, I found myself drawn to his story as I travelled. In this letter, Paul urges Timothy to remain steadfast in his faith and to continue teaching others, even in the face of hardship.

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:1-2

God calls us to build a community of encouragement, guidance, and shared joy. At Pilgrim School, we are blessed with a team that worships, prays, and grows together. From our Monday parent prayer group to daily staff devotions, class devotions, and school-wide worship, we strive to live out this calling. I encourage you to join us for class worship and to pray for our staff and school as we continue this journey of faith together.

Blessings & Ciao
