This fortnight's Spotlight is on....

(Each fortnight we will get to hear from one or more of our year groups and find out what they've been up to for the fortnight)

Year 1- Danielle McClure & Sarah Clayton

Year One has had a fantastic beginning to the school year, settling in beautifully and embracing new learning experiences with enthusiasm. The students have been actively engaged in their lessons, building friendships, and exploring exciting new concepts.

Over the past three weeks, our Religious Education program has been a highlight, with students participating in a variety of hands-on activities to deepen their understanding of faith. Through role-play, they have brought Bible stories to life, fostering a deeper connection with the teachings. Drawing has allowed them to express their reflections creatively, while storytelling and reading from the To Know, Worship and Love textbook have helped develop their understanding of key religious themes.

Sometimes, when we finish packing up early or take a brain break, we enjoy playing Heads Down, Thumbs Up as a fun and engaging activity.

It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and engagement grow, and we look forward to more meaningful learning experiences in the weeks ahead!

Year 2- Aoife Geraghty

Year Two’s Narrative Writing Journey

Year 2 has had a busy and exciting start to the term as we began our narrative writing journey. We have been exploring character and setting, using our imagination to bring stories to life. Building on our Year 1 knowledge, we are focusing on correct punctuation and expanding our spelling skills to create our best possible writing. Before we begin our writing lesson we always have a quick ‘Çrunch and Sip’ break to fuel our bodies and ensure we're ready to do our best work.

To understand story structure, we have been drawing inspiration from classic tales like The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears, identifying how a strong beginning, middle, and end come together to form a great story.

We look forward to seeing our young writers continue to develop their creativity and storytelling skills throughout the term!
