Religious Education

Ann Kuric

Children have been advised to come dressed to school on Thursday 28th March in the character they are performing for our Easter Paraliturgy.

Dressing up as their character will allow students to immerse themselves in the role and bring their performances to life.

We are excited to announce a special opportunity for parents to engage in a Lenten reflection journey. Lent is a time of spiritual renewal and reflection, we invite you to join us for an enriching reflection designed to deepen your understanding of the Passion of Christ.

The sessions will take place on Tuesday 26th March and Wednesday 27th March in our Chapel starting at 2.45. To ensure that we can accommodate all participants comfortably, we kindly ask that you book your spot using Audiri.

Catholic Education Week

Last week we celebrated Catholic Education Week across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

St Carlo Borromeo was given the opportunity to join all 334 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to celebrate our distinctive Catholic identity, our achievements, and the role our school plays within our parish and local communities.

The theme for this year’s celebrations was ‘In the light of Christ.’ Some of our school leaders were given the opportunity to attend a special Mass at St Patrick celebrated by Archbishop Peter, this was followed by the Concert in the Park for primary school students.

We also celebrated St Patrick who has a beautiful prayer called the Breastplate prayer. According to tradition, St. Patrick wrote this prayer in 433 A.D. for Divine Protection (the term breastplate refers to a piece of armour worn in battle)

Reconciliation Reflection Night

During week 6 we welcomed all our Year 3 Reconciliation candidates and their parents to our school for a family workshop. Our workshop was a huge success and allowed our families to discuss the significance of Sacraments such as Baptism and Reconciliation. Father Dishan joined us to discuss the sacredness of Reconciliation and discuss God’s unwavering love for us. Families were given the opportunity to learn and discuss a bible story based on forgiveness. The contributions parents and students made were amazing.

Prep

Our Preps have been learning about the importance of God in our lives and how we can talk to God through prayer. Our Preps took part in their first Godly Play and they also visited the Chapel to learn about the special religious symbols and items that are in our Chapel.

They have also started to learn about the events of Holy Week.

Year 1

Our Year 1 students have been deepening their understanding of Prayer and their understanding of the love Jesus has for them.

They have investigated three questions

  • How can we talk to God?
  • How do we pray?
  • Why is prayer important to my life?

They have also explored and written prayers of thanks and petition.

During their Lent unit they have learnt about the events of Holy Week. They have discussed what people saw, felt and said during these events.

Year 2

Our Year 2s have been learning about the importance of having Jesus in their lives. They have discovered that Jesus is always there for them, He is a friend, a Father and a great listener who hears the prayers we make. They have also spent times composing prayers of praise for the gifts Jesus has bestowed upon them.
