Reflections from the cast of Mary Poppins

Production is a time of year that we all look forward to! We are super excited to be doing Mary Poppins this year and can't wait to get it on the stage! We have just commenced rehearsals and are having so much fun starting to learn the songs and choreography!

Miss Williams, Mrs Pappoto, Mr Marshall and Miss Stenhouse have put so much effort into making our productions the best and we are so lucky to have such an amazing group of teachers! You could say they are practically perfect!

Some highlights that we are looking forward to are production camp, holiday rehearsals, and of course, our show days! You will all start to see some of the cast and teachers wearing their Mary Poppins merch which was designed by Jami from year 12!  We are super excited for what's to come!! We hope to see you in the audience.

Year 6 Instrumental Music Academy

We're pleased to share the latest news from our Instrumental Music Academy, where our Year 6 students have been busy mentoring the Year 5 recruits in preparation for their instrument selection at the end of Term 2.

Our Year 6 musicians recently showcased their talents at open rehearsals for parents and families, as well as at both the Years 6 - 8 and Years 9 - 12 assemblies. Their performances were a testament to their hard work and dedication. We're now looking for more committed students to join the Year 6 Academy.

Keep an eye out for information about mid-year applications coming in Term 2.

Harmony Day

On Thursday the 21st of March, Hazel Glen College recognised and celebrated Harmony Day across the College. Harmony Day was a celebration of the cultural diversity we share, centred on the phrase ‘Everyone Belongs’.

Students were encouraged to wear a splash of orange to celebrate the day. During lunchtime, there was a great turnout from students across the Secondary School to support and watch students from the Year 5 Instrumental Music Academy who performed a rendition of a cultural song on the djembe drums.

Critical Connections Grand Prix Excursion

On Friday the 22nd of March, a group of Year 7 and 8 students had the opportunity to attend the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. Students were able to spend time at the Driving and Learning Innovation Hub, where they had the opportunity to explore the world of Formula 1 and STEM.

Students were able to explore their interests in STEM and learn about the diverse pathways available in the motorsport industry.

Students also had the opportunity to watch the motorsport industry in action during Formula 1 free practice. Students watched excitedly as the Formula 1 teams and drivers familiarised themselves with the Albert Park track.
