Assistant Principals' Report

Absence process

Attendance at school is important; however, we understand that, at times, your child will need to have time away from school. We kindly request if your child is unwell that you explain the absence on Compass and provide any relevant documentation, such as a medical certificate, to the appropriate administration office.

What do our Secondary Years teachers have to say?

Before the term ends, we want every Hazel Glen College student to know...

'They are capable and important.'

'That they are valued, considered and understood as an individual and a learner.'

'That they are valued in my classroom and their opinions and thoughts contribute to shared learning and understanding.'

'That no matter the class or teacher they are with students can expect a consistent lesson structure and classroom expectations.'

'I would like them to know that we care and everything we do is help them.'

'Their classroom is a safe space for all students, where everyone feels respected and valued.'

'That their own personal best is the highest achievement they can reach.'

ICT and protecting your privacy

When students are provided access to the College internet and Compass, they are provided with a login and password. We would like to remind families to ensure that their children reset their password with something that is unique and more secure, in order to protect their privacy.

Uniform

The holidays provide a good opportunity for families to check that you have all of the uniform items that you need for the term ahead. Please be reminded that students should wear black leather lace up shoes with their academic uniform and runners (not street shoes) with their PE uniform.

Non-Hazel Glen uniform items such as long sleeve tops, hoodies and leggings are not permitted to be worn with the uniform. Students are encouraged to ensure that they have the shell jacket, woolen jumper or blazer if they are looking for items to keep them warm over the cooler months. Students can choose whether they wear winter or summer uniform, however, we ask that they do not mix uniform and that they don't wear PE uniform unless they have a PE class during the day.

There has been some confusion about the old spray jacket and when it can be worn. This jacket is being phased out and is no longer available to purchase. We understand that many students still have this item, and it can be worn with the PE uniform until the end of 2024. The old spray jacket is not permitted to be worn with the academic uniform.
