BULLETIN | Campus Principals'

JUNIOR SCHOOL | Campus Principal

Mr John Simon

It has been a short but busy term for our Junior School students. Some highlights have included:

  • Year 7 Orientation Camp at Lord Somers Camp
  • Year 8 Survivor Day
  • Year 7 Parent Meet and Greet Evening
  • Year 8 History Incursion and Year 8 Geography Zoo Excursions
  • Seeing so many Year 7 and 8 students get involved in opportunities like House Swimming, the 2024 production (Grease), Semper Squad, interschool sport, instrumental music including our Training Band (who will have its first rehearsal on Tuesday 26 March) as well as a long list of clubs and activities (Dungeons and Dragons, Chess Club, Basketball, Indoor Soccer and so much more!).

We were also very impressed with the manner in which our Year 7 students approached NAPLAN, completing all four tests with focus and maturity. Results will be shared with parents/carers when available later in 2024.

Our motto is Optima Semper (best always); we expect students to work hard, but will match their hard work with a high level of support and care. To be able to have equally high expectations and to be able to provide high support, there are many ways you can stay connected with the school and your child’s learning.

Please ensure you have read your child’s Term 1 Progress Report and are regularly checking Learning Tasks on Compass for timely feedback provided to your child by their teachers throughout the semester. It is not too late to book Parent Student Teacher Conferences for Term 1, to be held this Wednesday 27 March via Microsoft Teams. Bookings close on Tuesday 26 March at 4.00pm. See Compass for further information. We are truly grateful for the support of our parent community and encourage you to contact us throughout the year as we work in partnership to support your child.

MIDDLE SCHOOL | Campus Principal

Ms Leah Hannas

What a great first term! I want to extend a big thank you to all our students for their dedication and hard work throughout Term 1.

It has been fantastic to see many Middle School students step into leadership roles within our Student Leadership Council (SLC), Interact, and Eco Team groups. Special thank you to all the students who participated in events such as the International Women’s Day Breakfast, Official Opening of our new building, Centenary Book Launch, and the school tours for prospective families.

At our school, we hold our students to the highest standards, expecting them to embody our core values of respect, responsibility, empathy, optimism, persistence, and integrity. This includes adhering to the school Uniform Policy, refraining from wearing jewelry or accessories, from using mobile phones and chewing gum on campus. We express our gratitude to all students who persist in upholding these values and expectations.

Year 9 | Our Year 9 cohort recently completed their NAPLAN testing in Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language, and Numeracy. I commend each student for their efforts and mature approach to undertaking these assessments.

We are thrilled to announce we will offer a Year 9 Camp to Cairns in August! More information to be shared at the start of next term in the Year 9 Assembly taking place on Monday 22 April. In this assembly we will also hear from Year 9 students who have applied for Year 9 Captain positions and provide information about the World Challenge Expedition opportunity.

Year 10 | Big congratulations to the following Year 10 students appointed to the Year 10 Captain and Deputy Captain positions:

Ahmed Ahmed (Captain)

Sophie McKee (Captain)

Felicity Childs (Deputy Captain)

Joash Xavier (Deputy Captain)

A friendly reminder that all Year 10 students must complete Work Experience in the last week of Term 2. Forms are due by the end of Term 1 to the Middle School Coordinators Office.

As we approach the Easter holidays, I wish everyone a safe and relaxing break and look forward to seeing everyone in Term 2.

SENIOR SCHOOL | Campus Principal

Ms Tiffany Greenhill

Term 1 on the Senior Campus has been filled with diverse achievements and growth. I would like to congratulate the Year 12 students for finishing their final ‘first term’ of secondary education at Frankston High School. The Year 11 students are also to be congratulated on their smooth transition from Year 10 across to Year 11 VCE or VCE VM. Thank you to our parent/carers for your support throughout this term, to our VCE and VCE VM staff for their hard work and commitment and to the Senior School Team for their care and efforts.

We commenced Term 1 with a special focus on transition and connectedness, exemplified through our ‘Day 1 Program’ for Year 11 (transition) and Year 12 (connectedness). These initiatives aimed to ensure a smooth transition into Senior School for Year 11 students and to foster strong bonds among Year 12 students, setting the tone for a caring culture with high expectations

As we break for the holiday, we encourage students to take this time to rest, recharge, and reflect on the successes and challenges of Term 1. It is also an opportune moment to catch up on any outstanding work and begin preparations for the upcoming assessments. Year 11 students should gear up for mid-year examinations, while Year 12 students will be preparing for the Year 12 Assessment Week in Weeks 8 and 9 of Term 2. All Year 11 and 12 students have their SAC Calendars published on Compass (visible to parents/carers and students). Students are encouraged to review this to forward plan their student, work and personal commitments before transiting into Term 2.

Attendance  | Students are reminded that in Year 11 and 12 they are required to maintain 90% attendance to be eligible for a Satisfactory ‘S’ result. Attendance is a key enabler to ensure students do not have gaps in their learning. There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes. Absences from assessments need to be supported by authorised documentation (medical certificate or approved school excursion). It is vital that holidays are planned during school holidays where possible, and not during the term. If you are planning to go on holiday during term time, make sure that you contact the Attendance Officer in advance, and work with the school to develop an absence learning plan.
