Out And About
YEAR 12 FORMAL
We were delighted to share the celebration of the Year 12 Formal, held at the Mornington Racecourse last Friday 22 March with 280 students from the Class of 2024. The event was a resounding success, with students enjoying a fantastic evening filled with laughter, friendship, and impressive moves on the dance floor. Thank you to the Year 12 Team (Kelly Mitchell, Kate Burgess and Jack Barbour) for their work in organising the event, this year’s theme being ‘Hollywood’. Thank you to the wider Senior School Team and all staff who supported students and the evening. An incredibly positive way to conclude Term 1.
VCE VM | WORK PLACEMENT
Congratulations to our VCE VM students for securing their first work placement for the year. Most students have already commenced their placement and the remaining students will start this in Term 2. At the completion of the year, after completing the required coursework and placement hours, students will be recognised with Structured Workplace Learning units. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to obtain industry experience, from which many students may be successful in securing apprenticeships or further training.
Thank you to all parent/carers and staff for their engagement and support in ensuring positive outcomes for all our students. Together, we look forward to a successful and fulfilling Term 2.
Wishing you all a restful break and a rejuvenating holiday!

YEAR 7 CAMP
For Semester 1, in LEAD Class, we had the opportunity to visit the Year 7 Camp for a day and help the Year 7 students with their activities. We split into multiple of groups and we did different kinds of activities such as raft building, pizza making, initiative games, screen printing and more. Some of us even got to play games with the Year 7 students, while they were waiting for their food or the shirts in screen printing, which helped us in further connecting and bonding with them. This interaction gave us an opportunity to meet new people outside of our cohort that we normally would not talk to. We had the opportunity to have lunch with the students ask them about any similar interests they might have. Personally, this day was a great opportunity to spend some time with new people who look up to me as a role model and can ask me for any advice. I am sure that all of us at that camp made fun and memorable memories together. Thank you to Mrs Sarah Bahramis for organising this experience for us.

Year 9 LEAD Class
Once we arrived at Lord Summers Camp we were greeted with loud funky music and lots of dancing to start of the morning. We got into our groups and started our first rotation of activities. The activities were SUP boarding, raft making, print making, pizza making, initiative game. Lily and I started off the morning with SUP boarding with Mrs Whitworth, Mrs Martin, Mrs Rabinov and a lovely group off Year 7 students. Jake and Ruby took us through some safety rules and then we got straight into it. Unfortunately, we were not able to participate in the activity because we did not have a change of clothes but found a lot of joy out of watching the Year 7 students step outside of their comfort zone and give it a crack. Then we had 45 minutes of free time before lunch!!
After our delicious 'make your own rolls', we got straight into our second rotation. We helped and participated in some brain teaser games such as “Tarp flip”, a “memory game” and a blindfolded obstacle course. Before we knew it, it was time to head off. We said goodbye to the amazing camp leaders before heading back to the bus for our 30-minute trip home. Overall, the day was great fun, we meet some new people and put our leadership skills to the test. We did not want to leave, we all wanted to stay for the famous Year 7 disco to bring back some memories! Thank you, Year 7 students for letting us help and get to know you all, we had great fun. Thank you to Mr Darin Joyce for driving us to and from the camp too.

YEAR 8 GEOGRAPHY | ZOO Excursion
Exploring Rainforest Wonders
Over the last few weeks, our Year 8 Geography students have embarked on a series of excursions to the Melbourne Zoo, delving into the intricate world of rainforest ecosystems. The excursions were an immersive experience aimed at deepening our understanding of the significance of rainforests and the diverse array of life they support.
Among the rainforest animals we encountered were the Asian elephants, Western lowland gorillas, Sumatran tigers, playful meerkats, and graceful orangutans. Witnessing these animals up close provided invaluable insights into their habitats and behaviors, reinforcing the importance of conservation efforts to protect their homes. Students also learned about palm oil plantations and coltan mines causing deforestation.
One of the highlights of the day for Year 8A was observing the tree-dwelling apes swinging effortlessly through the canopy, calling out loudly and proudly!
All students had the opportunity to marvel at the beauty of butterflies flitting amongst the foliage, serving as pollinators crucial to the rainforest's biodiversity.
