International Women’s Day Breakfast

On Friday 8 March we held our third International Women’s Day Breakfast at Frankston High School. It was a morning of celebration of women and their contribution and leadership on so many different levels throughout society. Thank you to all of our inspirational speakers: Jodie Belyea MP, Federal Member for Dunkley; Madi Child, Advisor to the Federal Minister for Skills and Training, and alumnus student, and our very own Tilly Scott of Year 9 who spoke about her involvement and passion for Muay Thai kickboxing. We also had a number of distinguished guests present including Frankston City Councilors and representatives, and School Council members. Thank you to those members of School Council who attended.

Thank you to Ms Leah Hannas, Mrs Jess Bambridge, Mrs Sarah Bahramis, Mrs Carolyn Florance and Mrs Stav Smaragdiou for their efforts organising this celebration, supported by many staff including our Facilities Team, and Mrs Kylie Grech. As a society, we have made progress, however, need to continue to do so much more to ensure gender equality.

In connection with International Women’s Day, our Interact Group organised a donation drive for ‘Days For Girls International’, requesting items that will be used to create menstrual kits for women and girls who do not have access to these necessary and crucial items. You can find out more about ‘Days For Girls International’ and the menstrual kits here: https://www.daysforgirls.org/dfg-pads/

CENTENARY | 100 Years, 100 Voices Book

Following the celebration of our official 100 years on Monday 12 February and the opening of our new buildings, we continue to run various events to recognise the rich and vibrant history of our wonderful school. Last week there was a luncheon held for previous staff which was wonderful to see many faces from different eras come together. On Thursday 21 March, we had the official launch of the wonderful publication ‘100 Years, 100 Voices’ authored by Mrs Sue Robinson, an alumni student and staff member of Frankston High School. It truly was a wonderful evening celebrating the enormous history of our wonderful school, including speeches from some of the outstanding alumni featured in the book. Thank you to Ms Leah Hannas, Mrs Carolyn Florance, Mrs Jess Bambridge, Mrs Sarah Bahramis and Mrs Stav Smaragdiou for their efforts with our centenary events!
