What's happening?
Facilities Upgrades
As we shared in our last newsletter, we have a number of projects underway at the moment. The fence is now complete which allows
us to be able to close off the oval area if needed.
Our new electronic sign on Montague Rd has also been installed and we are excited to learn more about how it can help us communicate with our community. We have begun sharing information on it already and our aim is to change messages regularly to help keep everyone updated about what's happening at our school.
Excellent progress is being made on the renovation of our Vista student toilets. Demolition occurred during the holidays of the downstairs facilities and so far, the urinal has been removed, new flooring is completed, the partitions have been erected and painting almost complete. Next week the electrical and plumbing work will be done with the hope that they will be in use during week 4. Work will then begin on the upstairs toilets which should take approximately 2 weeks. We look forward to having these back open for student use.
Growing our fruit & vegetables
We are so lucky at Para Vista to have expansive grounds and areas that already have fruit trees growing and vegetable beds ready to sow. Recently we were successful in winning a Food Security Grant through the Department for Education. Our application described our vision to revitalise our vegetable beds and the adjacent area, as well as work with the Community Hub to grow foods which reflect our multicultural community. We will also be working to clear the excess growth in the area behind the Vista building where most of our fruit trees are so this can also be utilised more effectively.
We know our students often enjoy trying some of the fruit that we grow and we hope that by developing our garden areas further, we can increase these opportunities to both students and families. In the meantime, we ask that the produce is not picked so we can use this for other projects including Breakfast Club and food education. We also hope to be able to offer produce to families at different times which will help us be able to sustain and grown our garden areas.

Uniforms
It's been great to see most of our students wearing school uniform on their return to school this term. Uniform is an important part of belonging to our school community and following our whole school expectations and we are happy to support anyone having difficulty in sourcing the items included in our guidelines. As the weather is getting colder, jumpers and jackets are needed, particularly in the mornings but please remember that plain green or school uniform jackets and jumpers are the only items that are part of our Dress Code. We understand that an item may not be available for a child to wear at times but do ask that this is communicated with your child's class teacher so we can support.
Our uniform shop has well priced items for sale. These can be purchased from the office or on Qkr!
