From the Leadership Team
A great start to the term...
Even though we are only in week 2, there has already been so much happening in our school which we are excited about.
The term began with a team building day with Active Education. Students participated in activities with their classes throughout the day which challenged them to work with others, solve problems, persist when things were hard and show courage. The paracord bracelet activity was probably the most challenging of the day for the older students and required lots of resilience when things got tough. Many students were able to achieve the end goal of making a bracelet though. We are really proud of the way all students participated in a challenging yet extremely fun day.
Yesterday we held our Mother's Day Stall with lots of students purchasing a gift for special people in their lives. It's always fabulous to watch how invested they are in choosing just the right gift and the excitement once they have paid, knowing they are taking this special present home to a loved one. Thank you to Tara, Terry, Sandra, Lisa and some of our House Leaders who assisted with the stall today and to everyone who donated gifts. A huge thank you to Anne (our Business Manager) who wrapped every gift and made sure there was a large variety for students to select from.
Today we held our first Mother's Day Breakfast. It was amazing to see so many of our students with their families join us for croissants, egg and bacon muffins, toast and pancakes. We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate how important you all are to your children and also get to do so on Sunday.
Happy Mother's Day!
Introducing Baylee...
Earlier this year, we were successful in gaining funding to have a Pastoral Care Worker join our school community for the next 3 years. We would like to welcome Baylee to Para Vista Primary School. Students have been getting to know Baylee during the past couple of weeks as he spends time in classes and out in the yard. We can't wait to have him working with students soon on some different activities.
Hey, my name is Baylee. I’m the new Pastoral Care Worker and I am here to provide holistic social and emotional support to everyone in the Para Vista Primary School. My job is to assist students who may be having a hard morning or are just struggling with their emotions. If I can’t help them then I’ll find someone who can. I’m here to help with running groups, help with events, and generally to support the well-being of those in the school.
Now a little bit about myself. I have been studying to be a counsellor for the past 3 years and graduated with a Bachelor of Counselling at the start of this year. Before I came to Adelaide I was working on my uncle’s farm on the Eyre Peninsular for 2 years which I enjoyed a lot. I loved driving big machines and working the land. I also love knowing that what I’m growing will be shipped out to where it’s needed and used all over the world and that I’m a part of something bigger than myself. I am the eldest of a family of 6 and I only have one sister.
If you see me, don’t be afraid to come up and say hello, I’ll try to remember your name. I can’t wait to meet everyone and I’m always up for a chat.
I hope you all enjoy the fabulous weather over the weekend
Anita
