From the Prefects

Ed Southwell and Halle Doyle, Head Prefects

Hello families of Kinross Wolaroi,

We hope you are all well and that our fellow students are coping with their assessments and any stress that they might find comes with this part of the term. As Camps Week is creeping closer, we urge both parents and students to become aware of what is required for camps week. Considering Cadets and other camps have further equipment that needs to be gathered, make sure you are informed of what you need and are getting on top of that! Camps week is a great time for students to focus on their study, learn new skills within a workplace, or better their resilience through fun and challenging experiences.

As we are sure you all know, the Kinross Wolaroi Open Day is happening this Friday 22 March. It is an excellent opportunity for prospective families to come and experience the welcoming culture of Kinross Wolaroi School. Both of us have the incredible opportunity to give a speech on Open Day as well as being a part of the school tours. The entire Student Leadership team will also be involved with the touring aspect of the day. The Open Day will provide ourselves and the Leadership team with the chance to show the numerous positive aspects of our school as well as completing our leadership responsibilities with pride. We would like to add a small reminder to all students to be on their best behaviour on Friday as members of our community and others will be coming to visit our school and we would like to show them the beautiful school that we have here. We appreciate your help in making the day run as smoothly as possible.

Accompanying Open Day, the Senior school is collaborating with the Junior school to celebrate Harmony Day. Harmony Day to us is an opportunity to highlight the accepting nature of the school as well as the acceptance of diversity and any different backgrounds within our community. To celebrate this day both the Junior and Senior school have been working on cutting out paper hands and drawing and writing on them to show what they think Harmony Day is about. There will be an opportunity for the school to mix with and get to know students throughout the Junior and Senior school through fun games on the Junior school oval. A big thank you must go to our Deputy Head Prefects Nina and Charlie as they have worked hard with the Junior school to get all of the equipment completed for Harmony Day!

Kinross Wolaroi has a few more events to look forward to towards the end of the term! The Athletics carnival is next Tuesday and will be a great chance for all students to show their house spirit and participate in numerous events throughout the course of the day. The Athletics carnival is a good opportunity for students to test their athletic abilities as well as showcase the pride they have for their sports houses!

With the Easter long weekend coming up we would like to wish all families a Happy Easter and to enjoy this small break before the term comes to an end! As we approach the end of the term make sure your standards of uniform and respect for teachers and staff remains the same up until the end as we are sure we would all like to end on a happy note!

Kind regards,

Ed and Halle
